Red face I´m new here. Trying to get out of the rat race.

    Hello guys.

I'm 22 years old i just finished my computer systems engineering major.
3 days ago i started working for a company doing boring and repetitive stuff that i hate and any 10 year old guy could do.
I find it so depressing, i dont like working for a company, i don´t like trading my time for a few bucks and doing it all over again everyday. I know i dont want to do it for the rest of my life.

I have some web design and programming skills, and would like to get some advice on how to use them to make a living out of it.

I just want to do something on my own and work for myself, i dont care if it has nothing to do with my major.

Anyway , those are my thoughts.

    Thanks guys.

The fastest way to get out of the rat race is doing your own business and the right things at the right time. Your education background is your gateway to success. There are lots of online/offline start your own biz you can turn to on the internet or you can work for various companies across the globe as a freelance contractor on elance, odesk, freelancer etc. Start from doing the things you love doing and spending your time with related projects on your specialty field and you will be lead to your major success until you establish your own company, website or whatever you like. Best of luck to you.

Hey and welcome to the forum.

I'm around the same age as you, and I've read books in the past that I've really helped me man and they will help you to.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki - this one will change the way you think about education, and help you get out of the "rat race"

"The Magic of Thinking Big" - if you want to achieve something in life, read this book.

Finallllllllly, "The Four Hour Work Week" - Tim Ferris - this one is perfect if you want to create a successful business where you don't have to work much so you can continue to party hard

Let me know if you have any questions dude.

Thanks to everybody for your replies. Sorry i'm replying one month later ...

I'm happy to tell you i quit my job =), and decided to start a business. I'm not 100% sure yet of what exactly it's going to be about, but i´m working on it. I´ve decided that i dont want to spend my life like the 90% of the people. I want something different, i want freedom, i think you now what i mean.

Thanks also for the book recommendations. I´ts funny because i was already reading the 4 hour workweek, it´s a great book. I´ve also read Rich Dad, Poor Dad and loved it, definitely going to read The Magic of Thinking Big.
