I stumbled on the forums a while ago, been reading ever since. Just got around to posting and figured I should introduce myself.

I am a foreign-born entrepreneur who has lived throughout the United States for over 20 years now. I currently spend time amongst various locales, predominantly in the western part of the country and currently maintain a residence in the southwest. I hold a engineering degree from a public US university and have experience working with various government agencies, independent consulting parties, and recognizable, publicly-traded companies. I am enrolled in a distance program working towards a Masters degree dually focused on business and engineering with anticipated completion in May '10.

Enrollment in a distance learning program allows me to continuously pursue new opportunities. I am currently working as part of a start-up group conducting research into the commercialization potential of a proprietary opti-mechanical technology. I also spend time as part of a web-development group working on an upcoming beta launch of a custom services website as well as a innovative new web app. Prior to that, I worked with a community based music initiative. While controlling interest of that venture has been relinquished, I still hold a minority interest through an investment vehicle.

I am actively scanning for new business opportunities, networking avenues, the next "BIG" thing and that search is ultimately what led me to this site. I look forward to sharing my ideas and experiences with everyone here and hopefully we can see all of our ideas come to fruition. Good luck to all, I look forward to meeting everyone further.

I think you've got the right idea - looking for the next 'big' thing. In our office we call it, riding a wave. This is a great place to do that! A lot of fresh minds here.....with some great ideas! As you start new businesses, if you haven't yet, I'd recommend that you read Bootstrap Business: A Step-by-Step Business Survival Guide. It's a great read if you're interested in small business.

Oh, and I'm getting my masters degree now too - I finish in four weeks!!
