Hello everyone!
My name is Ryan Perrone, I'm 23 out of the northeast. I started my 1st company at 18, a gaming currency shop focused on the niche of Ultima Online, by 20 we had grown beyond one game into the whole market of MMORPGs(massive multiplayer online role playing games) and the Gamerstock Network was formedWe now serve thousands of customers across our entire network of gaming related sites, providing currency and services gamers need.
Around the same time we were launching GamerStock, we realized the competitive search marketing we were up against. Companies like IGE.com, THSale.com, and WoWmine.com net hundreds of millions of dollars, and had limitless budgets for paid advertising. Well we most certainly couldn't compete with them throwing millions of dollars to Google each month in Adwords, so we took the better route: we spent the next year submerged in search engine optimization. After all, I'm a gamer at heart, so I love a good David(me) vs Goliath(Google) like challenge!
Fast forward a year...2007.. we're now very proficient at SEO, and have our niches under control. Well under control is great and all, but it's not excitingSince this search marketing was so enjoyable, I decided to make that my next venture, and Rethink Networks was born.
Rethink Networks currently manages the SEO, and PPC of nearly 60 clients helping them make exponentially more money and getting the presence online required in successful business today. This is one of the most enjoyable things I could imagine doing. It's ever-changing, and that's exciting
NEXT! So, 2008ish (time moves way too fast..) Everything's going great, SEO companies getting it's legs, Gamerstock is kicking ass, and there's a fuel shortage...
A fuel shortage? This isn't the 70s...! So a friend and I started an alternative-fuel (biodiesel) company. Not only that, we started a grease collection company. Currently we produce a modest few thousand gallons a week of biodiesel, and it is used by a local trucking company. The grease company is growing very fast, and since we are both sides of the coin (supplier/producer), we are agile enough to always be comfortably cheaper than pump diesel, and still make at least 60% profit per gallon.
So, those are my babiesI play an active role in all of them, especially Rethink Networks, that's my 9-5 so to speak. If there is anything to take away from this wise old sage (
) it would be:
1) Be vertical. Spend the time and resources to figure out how you can stop handing out money to make money. Our gaming success came so quickly because we didn't get middle-manned on supply, we made our own currency. Same with the fuel company.. keep the money in house.
2)Be Honest. As you grow in your business, it's crucial that people can trust you, stay focused on the tasks, and know you've got their best interest in mind. I'm far from corporate minded, so for me being honest and carrying trust is the most enjoyable thing successful business brings to you.
3) Have Fun! What's the money worth if you hated the ride? And remember to clock out at some time
So that's who I am and what I do. I look forward to being a member of this very cool community.
-Ryan
