Just found this website about 30 minutes ago and already learned a few things.
I'm a 21 yr-old female from Virginia, USA and I'm currently working on my Bachelor's in Business Admin. Should be done by Summer 2010.

I want to start my own business (obviously..that's why I'm here haha). I've been buying GPS's on ebay and sending them to my uncle in Brazil who sells them for 100% more than the cost and we split the profit. It's something, but it's really slow. I'm trying to start sending other American products that are in high demand and very expensive over there but don't know exactly how to go about doing that and I'm a bit scared of the risks especially with things that are more expensive, such as iPhones. I heard that a high percentage of mail in Brazil doesn't arrive at its destination which is pretty scary although I haven't had a problem with any of the GPS's I've sent.

Anyways that's a little intro I guess of myself and what I want to do. I'm sure I'll get lots of helpful info and support on here from everyone.

Welcome! As I'm sure you've already discovered, there are many types of business and business people here on YE. I'm sure you will find someone who has experience with international shipping.
And if you ever want to diversify and start up another kind of business, you'll find lots of ideas for that too.

I think you might be missing something after "you can reach me on..." or I'm not seeing something.

That's great, good to see a fellow Northern Virginia entrepreneur here. Have you looked into shipping insurance? and what carrier are you using?

How is your uncle selling the products? what is your competition like?

I've also looked into buy and sell but never got anywhere with it.
Right now, I work full time for a major IT corporation, but hoping our businesses get to the next level and I can devote 100% of my time to it.. My wife and I run a frozen yogurt shop in Adams Morgan, DC. I also own an IT Consulting company with clients in DC, VA and Maryland. We are in the process of opening a computer shop and another frozen yogurt store.

I wish you luck on your business. Retail is hard to get into, but as long as you can find your niche and find a way to reach your buyers you should be good to go. Don't give up and learn from your mistakes. Also keep your eyes open for new opportunities, meaning if this business model doesn't work, maybe you will stumble upon something that does in the proccess.
