hey everyone!!

Hi all,

Just signed up then after doing a quick google search, and I couldn't believe I hadn't ever searched for this kind of site.

A bit about me: I'm 18 this year, live in Australia, and have always been keen on the idea of 'becoming my own boss'. Recently I have been having lots of enterprising ideas, most of which were out of my reach, however I did execute one of them. Basically it was a small Ebay store, I sold LCD TV's, and it lasted about a year.

I lost ~$2,000, but it was OK though; it was my first try at a legitimate business and I learned a lot more than I thought I would.

So, thats a bit about me, I am keen to learn a lot more from this site and it's members, and I hope I will get to know you guys a bit better.

Thanks,
Charliee

Welcome to YE! It's important that you keep the "oh, it's okay, I only lost $2,000" attitude. This will get you very far. Remember, it takes money to make money. By the way, how's Australia?

Welcome to the forum, one question is you say you lost some money from your 1st venture and most people usually do and maybe more that once but did you sit down and try and work out why you lost money because if you did and you found out the reason why you are well on the road to becoming a big success in business.

I like your attitude too.
I know too many people who would just give up, after such a minor setback.

I could write a book of the many set backs I have had.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I agree with all of you, its the ones who don't give up that make it in the end, I have had quite a few disappointments, but reading the biographies/autobiographies of the famous entrepreneurs on this site is a real motivator.

In response to Mega B: I did eventually realise why my business failed, and I will try to avoid these things in the future. I didn't plan well enough, competition was too fierce, my schooling was becoming my main priority, and most of all; i just wasn't an experienced enough manager.

Oh and to Jay Brass: Australia is great . Not as much money to be made here compared to America I guess. I would like to live in America for a few years though, my mate just moved over there to live in Miami with his dad, he loves it.

Hello Charliee and welcome to YE! It's ok if your first venture was not that successful and many entrepreneurs experienced that too. At your young age there are still businesses for you to discover and the one that interest you.
