Hello everyone! I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself and say that I am really loving this site. It is already helping me with my ideas and thoughts about what I need to do for my own business. Although I don't have one quite yet, I hope to soon. Well, a little about myself: I am a full time student and I also work part time with an investment company. I actually won't be working much longer as I am a temp and the position has been posted for a permanent status and I am just not interested. I took the job because the pay was great and the hours fit my school schedule perfectly. But that's not a problem. I am more interested in school and my music. Which I guess leads into my interest in business. I am hoping to own a label but with a bit of a different approach than what the music industry is doing now. Of course I also want to become a musician myself, but I like the idea of working for myself and being the mind behind the creative process of music. (ie being a producer, songwriter) While I also think that a lot of artists are being screwed financially by big labels and even sites like iTunes, I am not gonna lie and say I don't want to make money Cause I DO. But I feel that I can keep up with the times especially with the explosive growth of downloading music and places like MySpace where artists can almost completely market themselves and the decline of so many big studios because I want to offer a label which operates almost completely online including studio work. How, you may ask? Well, I haven't figured out all the technical details but I have a few ideas which will allow my label to collaborate with the home studios. Because that is where it's going. I myself have my own studio . I don't need to go to some big expensive one where I have to get my songs done quickly because I am paying by the hour. I can create, write, and record at home. Anyways, that's basically me. I am a beginner and a newbie so I still have a lot of research to do and some business planning but that's why I am here!
