Welcome,

You could do what I did, This semester I dropped two classes, now I have tons of time to work on business. Ok, so maybe its not the best idea. I actually had the same idea you have, last summer, however, if you have any growth, there may only be more work after the summer ends.

To find posts I just click on my user name and go to public profile and there is something about posts ive made. I have been involved in business since I was in high school also. Recently (within the last year), I have learned a lot and set my focus on stability. My financial forecast for the next few years is quite exciting, basically I could drop out of college if I wanted to. I am planning a biz trip to china this summer as well. My focus is in retail sales, focusing on niche markets. My inventory is becoming more diversified, thus I have to focus on e-commerce which allows me to sell multiple types of products in multiple venues.

I also had the same Idea as you, I was going to continue my business to raise enough money for medical school. But, I have always loved business, its my strength, so i changed my major to business, knowing that I can make twice as much as a doctor, doing half the work, having five times the fun.

Does Michigan not have any type of state scholarship program? I go to UGA, We have the HOPE scholarship here, it pays for tuition, so basically all i pay for is food and rent. Anyways, if you have any questions let me know, ill give you the non-educated, straightforward answer. Otherwise, you could ask some of the experts on the boards, they will give you some rant about making a business plan and finding investors, and all this stuff that i dont quite understand, but I know I should be doing.

Good Luck,
Peter

eh, michigan doesnt give very many scholarships. if you get some from them itll be like 500 dollars. if you want a full ride, you need to be on their football team or get perfect scores on the act and sat.

what kind of business are you in? selling products? got a website? im just curious.

Well, I am currently working on about 3-4 startups, all retail sales. I used to be in the apparel and accessories market, but it was just too much to keep up with and too many people that were hard to please, my only active sales come form my auto parts company Virtual Shopping, as you can see I still have a lot to do, however it is paying the bills and providing me money for my other startups. My other companies are still in the work, still talking with suppliers and such. But, I have gotten the hard part out of the way, the learning and risk curve is very steep in my work, but once everything is figured out I have no problems with stability.
What do you plan on studying?

I love this entire post and thread, considering I'm also a high school senior in Michigan. However, there is just one slight problem.

MSU Spartans all day baby!!!!

Lol, I went with the MSU route instead of U of M. Not sure why since Michigan has the better business program and I'm going for Finance, but either way lol. You're right about scholarships though. I got a 31 on the ACT and a 3.8 and MSU gave me nothing that I know of, and since U of M is a better school, I'd kind of figure they'd be a little more stingy.

Lets hope our entrepreneurship can pay at least some of the way through school lol. Cheers to no student loans

Welcome to YE

Well, I guess if you could consider all my in-school sales adventures businesses, then yes lol.

I'm currently working on an SBI! site at the moment. Now that I think about it, I'm about to post a thread here about it. I went through the entire first half of the process (brainstorming and blueprinting your website) and took detailed notes (probably a good 15 - 20 pages, I can't recall offhand) so far, and now as I'm going through the process again to actually implement it, I'm stuck on finding the proper Niche.

I don't know if you'll understand what I'm talking about really without knowing what Site Build It! is, but basically, my current web-based business is at a halt. I posted in the forums about my problem, but so far I haven't gotten any response. I'm hoping to get one soon so I can get as much done today as possible since I have school tomorrow.

Anyways, as of right now, it is supposed to be based on Personal Development, such as financial improvement, better health and fitness, intelligence and memory, etc. etc.

I figured that those are some of my major strong points, I know a great deal about them and have plenty of experience, so I might as well combine them into something that people will want. If a person learns just one thing from my website that improves their life, they win. If they just so happen to click a google ad, referral link, etc., then I get rewarded for the efforts. Win-Win situation lol.

How about you? Whats the idea behind the food product, if you don't mind me asking? I understand if you want to keep it secret. Maybe secret isn't the best word there, but you know what I mean. Don't worry, the latest and greatest U of M recipe won't be turning Green and White anytime soon
