Hello, my name is Tuan. The first thing i gotta say is, i'm glad to be here. I spent some time reading through many posts before i actually sign up to introduce myself. Throughout the many posts in this forum alone, i get the sense that there are many young people like myself are in trouble. Not trouble in the sense of life and death, but the trouble of not being able to live a fulfilling life doing what we love or enjoy. There is a constant fear instilled in us through society and establishments such as school and universities.
My problem has been looking at all the wrong places for a solution to my problem. I have graduated in 2009, but instead of going to work, i took 2 years to travel back to my country in Vietnam. During that time, i have worked at odd jobs throughout many companies there for income while spending most of my time volunteering. It was satisfying but work was not. After running fresh out of money, i came back to the States facing high unemployment(not that i want to work at a job anyways).
I have thought about becoming an entrepreneur, but like many here, i dont know where to start or how. Therefore, i spent much of my time looking to find something that would be a fit for me.
After a while looking, i have found something that i seem to be passionate about. And i would like to take up your time to assess what i'm doing to be logical or realistic so i have an idea of how to go about it and improve.
To make a long story short, I am on the process of creating a portfolio to apply to a company call MindValley. The requisite for the application is a resume and a VIDEO COVER LETTER posted on youtube.
To be honest, my resume is not hot. So all i have left is to wow the recruitment people with my Video Cover Letter. The normal applicant post a video of themselves and the reason why they are fit for the position and the company.
I, on the other hand, want to do something else, then video it. My idea is that this company's market is working online, doing a lot of social media/marketing. I plan to showcase my potential to the employer by building a blog, linking it to my facebook page, and getting users (internet people) to come, read about my experience going through this, and most importantly, LIKED, the page.
I want to get atleast 50k LIKED, by going through my friends and contact list on both facebook and twitter and other sources. At the same time, ask for referals to generate more traffic. After that is exhausted, i will contact other blogs and people who are in this industry to help generate more love for this project i'm doing. This is my plan atm.
I'm looking for people who can help me set up websites and those with experiences in blogging and setting up these social infrastructure to make it as professional as possible.
I think in doing this, the company i'm applying to would see my potential and at the same time, enjoy much more exposure on the internet through my spreading of its company's name and values.
