Good morning from London

Hi everyone

I hope no-one minds but I didn't see why this site should be reserved for 'young' entrepreneurs!

I'm 58 - it occurred to me that you might like a few boring old f**ts around simply to bounce ideas off.

I promise not to interfere - but do ask if you think i can be helpful.
Meantime you might like to take a look at what we're doing at WorldWideNoticeboards

If you are looking to raise money you could act as one of our agents or affiliates - we will have upwards of 300 sites by the time we've finished covering all categories and regions.

We've just launched the regional (local) Noticeboards for the UK and will be doing a similar lot for the US. We are based in London.

From this month we will be launching a new competition which we are hoping will grow to produce some big prizes as time goes on. Initially a bottle of champagne a week for the winner. Check our blog for details.

We'd welcome some feedback from you guys on how we can attract people to our site - but don't be too scathing - like you we are just starting out.

I look forward to offering any advice I can if that helps.
regards
Mozzie

Welcome to the forum mozzie.

You know I think Young Entrepreneur should mean people who are new to business (i.e. they are "young" in business) rather than people who are actually young.

Thats just my thoughts anyway.

Thanks for the welcome

Mark, thanks for the suggestion - I'll take a look

A qualification on 'young' - possibly 'young at heart'

What defines a persons age I believe is their desire to learn new things. I am an incessant learner - and the young are the best teachers because they have the enthusiasm and none of the limitations brought on by consistent failure.

Here in the uk failure is a disease best not spoken about - a bit like cancer used to be - this needs to change if we are to excel in business. Failure is simply a step in the learning process.

There is a story I find illustrates the way we humans behave to one another and which is the main reason for people not succeeding in life.
There exists in the oceans a species of crab that is caught in open baskets, unlike the usual crab and lobster pots we see, these baskets have wide open necks.
The crabs climb in for the bate and once it's all gone one crab will start the climb up the side of the basket back to freedom.
The other crabs, seeing this, immediately drag him back, time and time again as he attempts to get himself free. If he persists they will even kill him rather than allow him to succeed in his attempt.

Why is it that we have this in our nature? How successful could we be if we gave one another a helping hand?

All the best
Mozzie
