From Mexico
Hi there,
I used to live in Las Vegas. My dad is a great entrepreneur that makes decent money. He gave me 50 dollars and a laptop and sent me to Mexico so I could learn how to obtain and duplicate money on my own. He said real man mature only when they need to. So I guess now there is a really big need for me to mature and be able to take care of myself. I am currently typing from a locale that provides free internet access. I am somewhat scared since I do not know where to start or how to start. So the first thing I tought of doing was to find a site where other people look for the same goal. I will keep posting of my successes and failures, and hope I can learn a lot from you guys.

LOL what the hell?
So what happens when your laptop gets stolen in Mexico (like mine did) ?
Can you even speak spanish?
Considering you have $50 and a really cheap hotel is roughly $5-15 a day, you have about 3-5 days until you're sleeping on the street. Mexico is no place to be sleeping on the street.
Either you're pulling our tail, or your dad is completely insane.

Hello Vinnie and welcome to YE!
Wow that is a peerless way your dad told you to do for your own. Anyways I hope you'll find many great people to brainstorm with as you wish, with a lot of fresh ideas to share and create. I wish the best for you in your journey.

Yeah, my dad is a bit insane. That is why he somehow makes everything work for himself. I would like to let you guys know that I applied for a job at the hotel I was staying at and they gave me a very good deal. They will only pay me a small amout but I will be staying there until I find a place. I was thinking on selling my laptop but it is the only thing I have, so I decided to keep it. Yes, I do speak fluent Spanish and French. I will keep you guys updated.

Hi Vinnie Toughstick
Welcome
Bill Moran -UK - Preston
So you are alone in MEXICO!!!!
It’s like being alone in a place where everyone is potentially a friend or an enemy
My Dad taught me one rule in life to live by - 'There are only 2 types of people The Good and The Bad- Stay away from The Bad and WORK with The Good'
And I bet that hasn't helped you!!!!!!!!!
What I am trying to say is I feel your father is teaching you that same rule -How do you find which is which? You develop a GUT feeling. What can you lose - $50 not much - a laptop -easily replaced when you return home - YOUR life if you mix with the wrong sort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What can you make of yourself with $50? Many arrived in the USA with less and became wealthy - they found potential where others had walked by. Why Mexico - Thousands leaving, and poverty all around - strong backs will not make you rich - but your MIND will.
I would advise several things - firstly make your $50 work for you and increase it as quickly as possible. Do you need your laptop? Is there internet availability through an Internet cafe?
Secondly put your money in a SAFE place like a BANK you will then have reduced your risk factor of either being stolen. Get 2 or even 3 part time jobs - you will earn money to cover costs but more importantly you will mix with a wider variety of people. There are 168 hours per week - 3 jobs at 20 hours = 60 what most manual labourers work. This leaves you 108 hours – sleep 7 x 8 = 56 leaving you 52hours - USE this time to increase your potential worth. Find a library and READ.
LIST all your ASSETS - fluent in 3 languages - could you tutor someone else? What was your SAT score - is that an asset? What books have you read? Will these be of use?
Sit and listen to people in cafes , library ( few villains in libraries – but still be wary)etc, make friends with everyone and divide them into the 2 groups - go with your gut on this it might just keep you out of hospital, jail or the cemetery.
If you have little money - USE other people’s money - you have a pool of friends and assets, Bring people together who will benefit each other - DO THIS FOR FREE!! You have to build THEIR TRUST in YOU.
REMEMBER - YOU are your biggest ASSET
Good luck I am adding you as a Buddy

What part of Mexico are you in?
This might not suck if the pay in Mexico was better than $10 for a full days work.
Vinnie there's plenty of hustlers that take advantage of the bus systems here to sell stuff, mostly things under 10 pesos. Just an idea but probably won't get you far.
You might also think about importing and selling items like clothing. You can start something like this for under $200. There are plenty of brandname suppliers on the internet, mostly from China.
I wouldn't be concerned about the legality of it in Mexico - everything here is a knockoff. If you go to the malls all of the independent stores sell knockoff goods.
The nice thing about Mexico is all of the people are entrepreneurs here and are always looking for a new side venture to get into.
It's fun.

Hi Vinnie,
Well you sure have a story to tell. And that is were your money can come from right now. Get a blog at wordpress and write about your story and your daily situations. I am sure everybody here will be glad to help you get some traffic even if it is just by mouth to mouth. Many people will be interested in reading your story everyday and seeing just how in the world do you make it. After a while you´ll be a celebrity and they will make stories about you on CNN.
And when you are making a nice amount of money from your public appearances and the sales of your book (Vinnie Toughtstick: How to survive with $50 and a laptop in Mexico), you can come thank me anytime for the advice.
Así que ya sabe. Para lo que necesite, aqui estamos los emprendedores.
Looking forward to your updates.

Welcome to YE Vinnie. Keep us update about your life in there. It's good for you not to sell you're laptop since you want to have an online business. Wish you luck!
