    Evening all

Not sure I count as a young entrepreneur having hit the dizzy heights of 31

I came across this website while searching in Google for information on DBA courses and thought I would check out the forum while here. Hope can get some advice and share some of my old age wisdom.

A little about me, as mentioned above, I came to this site while searching for information on DBA (doctor of business admin courses) as I plan on going back to Uni part time in the coming months. I graduated way back in 2003 with a degree in marketing and then planned to stay on and study but the summer after graduation I couldn't find a job so ended up setting up a music promotions company with little money and even less experience.

Didn't make a fortune from it but ran well enough to do as a full time job for a couple of years. After that I have gone on and set up another 4 businesses which I still run. Whilst business life is going well I still feel I have unresolved business with my studies and want to get back into it. I'm a victim of my own success a little; I out source too much work and have automated too much so I have little to do these days

I'm planning on starting on MBA at Easter, followed by the DBA program. Anyone else on here done the MBA? How did you get on?

What do people think generally about studying for your personal achievement rather than to aid your career. Good or an expensive way to boost ones ego?

    thanks for reading
    Carl

    HEy Carl,

Sounds like you're doing well there my friend, running 4 businesses with full automation :-)
Yes, I believe it's worth it to go back to study, if that is what you want. There are many people who study just for personal achievement and not for career.

    Regards,

    Dave

thanks for the reply and the welcome.

The one thing I have discovered over the years running several businesses at once is that it's not how hard you work, but how smart you work which will bring success. It's worth investing time, effort and a little money in developing systems to make what you do faster and easier then it will pay off in the end.

As a simple example, if you do a lot of submitting of forms and databases then learning Macros will allow you to automate 98% of the task.

The great thing with automation is the time it frees up. Being your own boss is great fun, but being able to have your systems working while you are out with friends, relaxing in the garden etc is the way forward.
