Bay Area Entreprenuer

Hello,

Just came across this forum while browing the SCORE website.

My name is Spencer, I'm 23, and currently located in the Bay Area.

In the process of starting my 3rd company. It is a furniture company targeting the modern/comtemporary segment, and features new material applications along with new/innovative designs. Its essentially "cutting edge" furniture, in terms of physical performance and design attributes. I'm still in the process of product design/prototyping, so I don't have a running website yet but hope to have a basic setup soon enough.

I started my entreprenuerial lifestyle at 19, a sophmore in College, when I started an import company, specializing in aftermarket car parts for BMW's (big car guy ). I did this for most of college, but the exchange rates started slumping (weakening dollar), which killed our margins. I then moved into high end composite manufacturing, where I produced my own aftermarket car parts and invented some very cutting edge composite technologies. After graduating, I moved back to the Bay Area and began my latest venture.

Look foward to contributing to the forum, and getting to know some of you. Great to see so many young people getting involved in their own ventures.

Do you have a website or an online catalog of the car parts you manufacture?

I might be of some interest.

Unfortunetly, I don't.

I got out of the automotive business about 6 months ago for various reasons. I do still have the tooling and could/should do another production run. All the products I have are for the BMW M3.

If that sparks your interest, shoot me a PM.

Hey Spencer,

Welcome. I plan on moving out to SF in 2 months or so. Can you recommend any districts to live in?

Best,
Dave

Glad to see some bay area entrepreneurs here! If any of you are interested, I've been going to a "entreprenuers under 30" meetup group for the last couple months. http://entrepreneur.meetup.com/973/

I actually live in Marin county, north of SF. I'm somewhat familiar with the city. If you want to live in a young district, the Marina is good. Pac Heights is also a good place.

I would highly suggest checking out the neighborhoods before signing a lease. Some places might be listed in a "nice" district, but cross the street and you are in the the "not so nice" district.

Its a great city, with tons of character, and things to do. You just have to pay the big bucks for it...

Hey Spencer, welcome!

I'm also a Bay Area native (Palo Alto, myself) although I'm on the opposite coast for a while in college. My entreprenurial efforts are more internet/high tech based, but what you've got going sounds really interesting. Keep
