Why do you want to be an Entrepreneur?

Who wants to be self made?

I know I do. But most people at my age (22) or even younger, haven't got a clue why they want be successful. They dont know why being financially independent means the world to them.

Most when asked usually give nothing but materialistic answers which sometimes get me upset. It seems fancy cars and nice homes get there juices flowing. But those aspect of motivation tend to never last too long. If it does, it never did with me. No car, home or private jet could make me work up to 7- 8 hours a writing a day in something a book I believed will make a difference in the world. Maybe I'm different.

But the point I want to bring up is...

Why do you want to be successful? Why does success,"in finanacial terms" mean so much to you. Whats your motivation. This goes out to all individuals on this site, even the owner, Adam and Matthew. You guys started this. Why not show us, what made you start. I think the rest will follow.

    Ill go first.
    1. Pops passed away at a young age.
    2. Mother caught cancer and left bosom - Survivor.
    3. Brother, helps me more than necessary.
    4. Family, is in poverty and i demand to be the savior doing what i love.( its the only way to be successful financially, if you think bug enough and grow your wings on the way down)
    5. I demand to set an example for my unborn cousins and future nephews that it is possible.
    6. And I know I can do it.

How about you? Why do you want to achieve success so badly? Whats motivating you every single morning? Is it your wife, girlfriend, Kid or even your own inner desire to be what they said you couldn't?

    Let the Conversations begin!

It's not that overly complicated for me. Sure there are plenty of reasons I can list but ultimately it's something I genuinely enjoy doing, a strong passion in life if you will. There are other factors but this one is one of the top reasons for me. As for why I started entrepreneurship, it was sort of an accident really.

Other friends were doing their own businesses and I never intended to or thought about it. However you sometimes garner interest in what they do simply because you're around certain types of people and for me, I sort of went along for the ride and ended up on this road.

This got personal really fast! I'll shorten it. Through a lot of mistakes and missed potential I ended up in a graduate business structure and planning class. I fell into an amazing group and our second week we were placed in front of our project. Our project was a business owned by Harvard grads, with a harvard intern and a lot of family money. We all looked at each other at the end of that class and it was probably the defining moment of my passion. All at the same time we felt that wtf moment of; this is going to be rough, let's get started!

I love cars, but i'm too cheap for the "throw it in teh bag" lifestyle. I want to be financially secure for my family and for my peace of mind. I want to be an entrepreneur because as hard as I am on myself, that same pressure makes me confident I can succeed. I dont want to be average, I want to stand out as a good person and businessman.

I've always wanted to do things MY way. I was a stubborn lil bastard lol, and I still am to some degree, but I know when to be open to people and ideas. I've always wanted to be independant, and never have to rely on someone else. I hated every SOB I worked for, and I always said to myself, "I bet I can do this better", or "I dont' need this sh-t!", and left haha. I'll always be a rebel by blood, and an Entrepreneur at heart. I'm working on my Blog, and just got done typing up the interview that I had with an Entrepreneur in Atlanta from this Sunday. I hope to have it up soon. I think the idea has potential. It was my first step as an Entrepreneur, and it felt great!.
