    Self Improvement Through Collaboration

When you engage other independent entrepreneurs in collaboration around mutually beneficial business projects, you are forced to grow and extent yourself in new areas. It may be uncomfortable at first, but, over time, you grow, expand and develop new personal development tools and skills sets. In addition, entrepreneurs who team up and collaborate as opposed to working along have a higher probability of success.

Nice post. Thanks for the insight.

I agree with what your saying here.

The example is given of many jagged rocks put together in a tumbler.

Even though those jagged rocks are so sharp at first, simply by being together and in motion, they will slowly become soft and smooth.

Similarly, even though each person will have their flaws and challenges, simply by being in assocation/collaboration with each other, growth will happen for each individual.

    However
, it doesn't seem to happen like this always does it?

Sometimes, you see friendships ruined or families split because of business relationships that turned sour.

What is the main difference between those collaborative efforts that have positive results and those that have negative results?

The answer is, quality of communication.

The ability to communicate - speak AND listen - effectively is one of the most valuable skills that any person can have, professionally and personally.

I'd suggest that anybody who's serious in developing a strong business and leading people in the process, develop top notch communication skills.

I agree with the post. Collaboration would definitely result in learning from fellow entrepreneurs and having to step up to make a meaningful contribution.

Great call. I was in a fraternity in college and one of the highlights of the experience was learning of the true value of collaboration. It's truly amazing how you can go from one idea, to another, to another, and on down the line until everyone's contributed a piece. You're left with something unique, something that most likely would have never been stumbled upon had you not developed the idea communally.

Collaboration as mixed with efficient communication is indeed much effective to improve oneself. Sometimes we always used to explore, learn and apply different things in life and yet we forget to communicate and develop relationships. I think that's the most crucial - even if you've learnt a lot, if you miss keeping those good relationships, you still do not endure success that easily.

    Great points everyone!

Thats a wonderful insight! It makes so much sense.i think when we collaborate our horizons get broadened and we tend to explore various uncharted territories.

I agree, collaboration is one of the keys to success. It takes a team to create big success along with constantly learning and growing. You become the average of the people you spend the most time with, when you spend time with people who have a similar mindset and goals you are much more likely to achieve yours.

I think this is so important! What we create through collaborating with others is usually far greater than what we would have created alone. Collaboration is key in any business.

Right on, as and you said, it may be uncomfortable.... AND THAT IS GREAT! It is when we ARE uncomfortable, when we are learning and trying new things, that we are growing and becoming the individuals that we need to be in order to reach our goals.
