Almost all the inventions I know invented in the 21st century are the modification of some running technology , has some one invented a thing recently ;world never though of like airplane , electricity , gun etc.

Graphene

Most of you are aware that Silicon is the main material used in electronic components such as transistors. However if you are familiar with Moore's Law and progress of Silicon in terms of performance you would gather that Silicon has not got much of a future left if we want to keep up with Moore's Law. We cannot fit more Silicon transistors in a chip to increase performance as we are getting nearer to atom sized transistors which simply would not work.

Graphene, a form of carbon that consist of a layer of just one atom thick with amazing electrical properties will revolutionise the electronics of today. It has the potential to bring faster processing speeds, a new type of building material (200x stronger than steel), replacement of kevlar, Spintronics, more efficient solar cells... and much more devices which I can't even think of at the moment.

The world we live in now has been brought to us through Silicon ...... I believe graphene will have that role in the 21st Century.
