    Process of product development.

I want to know what goes into developing a product, from the initial idea to the product being in stores. To be more specific, I want to know where to begin when it comes to finding materials, manufactures and even licensing.

To use an example: Apple's newest Macbook Pro's aluminum unibody, what goes into making something like that actually happen? The logistics of it, also when you engineer something different from it's predecessor, or something never seen/done before, do you also have to invest in brand new tools to manufacter it?

If I am to broad in my question please let me know and I will break down my question further.

    Thank you,

Just guessing(and I don't know why they call it a unibody.. That, to me, would suggest it is of one-piece design), but it looks like they used a few thin sheets of aluminum, a customized mold and a press plate for the mold, take another flat sheet and mill the keyboard space, touchpad space, perforate the speaker area, mill the CD slot, USB slots, etc, then cut and mill the rim to fit and retain the LCD screen. Then they'd press the sheets into shape for the top side and bottom side.

After that, screw it all together and you have an extremely well fit piece of hardware.

search online for product development. I myself have created books from the information that I have received about this very subject just from doing research online about it. I love the internet, this I must say was the greatest invention yet, though I plan to make the greatest ever.
