Unfortunately, UK patent law favors the first person to file as opposed to the first person to conceive an invention. In contrast, the US favors the first person to conceive an invention, which I believe is more fair. So, there is a risk of theft if it is a remarkable invention. However, dIfferent people, including patent agents and lawyers, have different areas of expertise. So, I would recommend at least posting the domain of the invention. Is it a medical device? a construction device? a piece of electronic equipment? a manufacturing process, etc.

I honestly think you should keep that idea to yourself. Never share your idea especially over the internet. Research a patent attorney in your area. Also, sign a confidentiality agreement with the patent attorney once you hire him/her. Do some research on how to file a patent yourself so you know what's going on.
