    Liability insurance.

What's the real deal with this.

Do I need it for esentially reselling cups with neoprene covers?

The cups are US made BPA free etc. and I have the documentation.

Just curious if anyone out there is in the know.
    Have a great day.

    John,

I was using your custom sleeve in a bar and it does work! It kept the beer MUCH colder which unfortunately made me drink more. I got sloppy and dropped the glass on my toe, It got infected so the doctor had to cut it off.

It's only a toe so I wouldn't mind so much and I would only sue for hospital bills but I started walking funny missing that toe and that made my knee blow out, so unfortunetly again, ofcoarse I lost my job...and then my wife...says I'm a bum now but it's really because of your stupid covers man...and I'm gonna sue your ass off!

John, this guy exists out there. It is said that if you have a successful product out there someone will sue you for damages because of the product or trademark or both. Some people just don't like when you make money and they think you are loaded and will not think twice of taking a company's money in court.

This jerk you may want to even settle with for a menial amount to make him go away. The plaintiff knows that in the first place and that is why they sue.

Moreover John, distributors demand extensive product liability coverage so nobody sues them because you will be able to cover compensation just fine. A customer can skip suing you and sue the distributor. They will go after who has the money...so the distributor makes sure you have plenty of resources to settle your own court cases.

A policy for you should only be a few thousand a year. Experts will tell you...NEVER do business without a product liability policy.

Actually, more like $500 a year, but insurance is a state regulated product, so what I pay in Virginia may be way off for you where you are.

If available, find an Erie Insurance agent. I have had policies with them, with a million dollar balloon, product liability, someone slips and falls and bites their tongue off, etc for about $350 per year.

Liability of an employer for an error or omission in the administration of an employee benefit program, such as failure to advise employees of benefit programs. Coverage of this exposure is usually provided by endorsement to the general liability policy but may also be provided by a fiduciary liability policy.
