Invented, tested, ready to go. Now what?

I have developed a product that has little competition ( 8 worldwide that i can see). Its extremely popular right now and i just completed the testing on it. The problem...my background is medicine/not sales. im stuck! At first i was really excited to market it but maybe because it took so long to get it perfect i kinda lost my drive. It just popped in my head to maybe sell it, and get a little money upfront and portion of future sales??? i don't know, any ideas??

    Thanks,

    Heather

What is the product? I've built and ran healthcare related companies so might be able to assist. You can find out more about my background at our company site: Medical Practice Management | Medical Billing & Coding | Medical Transcription

A bit more background on the product, the industry and target audience, and what problem it solves would be helpful for advice here.

Everyone faces the same problems when they develop a new innovative product, and without sales, no matter how good your product is, you won't make any money with it unless you know how to market it effectively. Not knowing more, it is difficult to suggest what your next step should be, but if it is a product that is electronic, as in information, then I would start an affiliate program to market it, and if it is a product which requires physical delivery, then you have a real headache, but without knowing more, I cannot make all suggestions which are involved with marketing.

    Success to all,

As both an engineer and an MBA I can tell you the route to "build a better mousetrap and the world will come to you" does not hold any water. You must really know who you are going after. Make sure you develop a business plan and decide what market you want to target. when you know who you are selling your product to, you can come up with a better approach to reaching them. That's about all the help I can give you without knowing the nature of what you are selling and what research you have done/intend to do.

I agree with some of the previous posters. You need to provide some more details about your product such as target market, whether it is a physical or digital product, is it patentable or can it be replicated by someone else. Details like these will determine what is the best way to sell your product or what steps you should take next.

Without any further info it would be really hard for anyone to help you. Here's one advise tho, try to have your invention protected that way it is easier for you to move forward.
