    Idea to Product

What is the proper procedure for turning an idea into a product? Any information is appreciated.

I currently own two different businesses but they revolve around service. I have an idea for a product that would be relatively cheap to produce and market.

I have done some internet searches and found virtually no information on the product but know there's a need for it. The downside is the market is relatively targeted.

When is it a good idea to take on the product by yourself or sell the idea to a larger company?

There is a ton of unorganized information out there but sifting through it takes time. I hope someone can condense it to me.

    Thanks....MIKE

    procedure:
    a) open ms word
    b) make surveys about your product
    c) distribute surveys to prospects.
    d) collect results
    e) ask for prepayments from prospects in step c
    f) use survey results to sings letters of intent with distributors
    g) use results from d, prepayments from e and loi's from f to secure any resources to make and sell your product
    h) collect revenues and reinvest

    idea:
never, ideas are not a kind of asset
they are incapable of being "sold to a larger company"

    Hi There,

Once you've decided whether you want to create the product or not, I can tell you exactly how to go from concept to finished product in the sense of the steps that it takes to get a product designed, manufactured, packaged etc.

Let me know if you need further help..

    Hi Mike,

Sounds like you might have something there. I specialise in turning people's ideas into fully functioning 3D CAD models and, where necessary, full detailed drawings ready to be handed to any factory around the world for prototyping. With a 1st class masters in Mechanical Engineering I have a strong background in producing feasible and proffessional standard designs. The service isn't free but it won't break the bank either, I charge on a case by case basis and work in currency not percentage so you're idea will remain just that.

If you're serious about moving forward, get in touch and we'll get an NDA signed to make sure we're both on the same page, then we can talk in a bit more detail about your idea.

    Regards,

    Pete
