My idea for a health care website
So price transparency is a problem in health care. I'm thinking about designing a simple website that people will go to when they want to know the cost of a particular surgery.
We would use the Medicare free schedule which is publically available but difficult for the average person to understand.
So let's say you broke your ankle and need surgery. You go in, do a few clicks, and you learn the medicare surgeon fee and hospital fee. Or your a lawyer and your client gets a bill for a $500 ER visit. YOu go online and find out what Medicare would have paid. now you have some idea what floor to negotiate from.
The revenue would be all from google ads.
what do you think?
Will i get any traffic? How much money will i lose!?

Hello,
I think your ideas are great, however, think about major corporation that somewhat have that into existence such as Blue Cross, HighMark, Medicare, Medicad, and etc..You may be loosing money if you only offer those services, perhaps you should add additional information that could be more beneficial to the user.

I think it is great, but you should link to the big insurance companies websites also. You might want to create a blog and post information daily about your services. Google indexes blogs quicker than websites so you would get more traffic and more clicks on your adsense sites.
-
You might want to drop the Google Adsense. I suggest doing Affiliate Marketing and push certain health care products. Like suggest where they could get it cheaper or alternative methods etc. There's so much potential in this idea.

I've actually had an idea fairly similar to this. Kind of like Elance for medicine.
You post your problem to the site, or what treatment you require (surgery, chemo, etc.) then various health care providers (either locally or nationally) bid on treatment for you. Then you pick the lowest price/best quality provider.
Someone should really get on this. Given that 2014 and Obamacare is right around the corner, I actually think there's a big market for this developing.

Yeah, cool idea. But, you have to provide some quality information on your site to get desired revenue. You may also add a category of home care services. Other than normal health services, you should also share information regarding price of various home care service providers. This will surely make your site popular. For information on home care services click here

Is this a co-incidence ?
cos i've already started developing a website similar to your idea given above. But, im sure there will be differences.

In an era of rising health care costs, it is quite difficult to estimate the costs of various drugs. While drug companies are facing mounting pressure to limit further increases, the common man is also struggling to buy it.

This could really make me and idea about health care website. We supposed to be allowing this because it can cause many advantages like having a health insurance. However, with the cost of health insurance, you may reach a point where you must decide if the premiums are worth the cost. Health insurance offers access to medical care that may be unaffordable without it.

not a good idea, i have studied doing the same thing. here are the reason why
1.there are already a good number of MD directory websites , the biggest being webMD.com they have a huge doctor database. with the insurance company details and all.
2. Doctors generally do not like to disclose prices. they like to haggle and scare patients to make a profit. so they will be hard pressed to join up with a site like yours.
3. No doctor would want to be reviewed , especially bad reviews.
4. when you do a google search , you will already find doctors on map in your area, with all the reviews and details.
the idea is clever, but its taken by many companies.

You might want to drop the Google Adsense.

But how to make people believe that health drugs in your site's is the same as usual?
