    I need some opinons on this idea please!

    Hi!

    iam current working on a startup jobstunt.com

    our original idea was for candidates to create a 90 second video cv for employers

    however due to the amount of people who are doing this already we are currently talking of ways to develop

    we were brainstorming and thought of an idea were employers will post their jobs vacancies and ask candidates to apply by sending their CV's and answering 1-3 questions from the employer and submitting back their answer via a 1 min video recording OR Audio recording.

    let us know what you all think

    thanks!

    That sounds kinda cool, but I'm not sure I see the huge benefit of this site vs. the many other websites that exist for this. If I'm applying for a job on another site, I'm going to end up sending both a cover letter and a resume. The cover letter is where I'm trying to convince the employer to consider me and to (hopefully) stand out from the rest. Also, since it's open-ended, I'm free to express myself however I want. So, I guess it comes down to this:

    1. Why should I use JobStunt to post my wanted ad instead of just posting on Craig's list and asking people who contact me to answer three questions?
    2. How are you going to get JobStunt ahead of the competition, when there is already so much competition (job sites, craigs list, classified, physical posters).

    Finally, please please please get rid of the flash on your website. Also, you may want to look into adjusting the audio in your first video (the one on the left). The music is a bit too loud and you can barely hear the voices.

    Anyway, it's an interesting idea, and could maybe work. But, I think you'll have to really think about how you are going to be different from the rest and how you are going to convince people to try your site vs. others which will give their ads much more exposure.

    That is a good idea and as far as future is concerned, I think this format will be adopted by many companies. I have heard of a company which recently setup online video conferencing. The candidates were emailed the time to show online presence and the conference interview was conducted in which each candidate could see what was going on. Well it was done to serve the purpose to remove biasness and favoritism. By conducting such interviews, selection can be done on merit.

    lol, the flash and the music will be off in the next couple days

    @cbely

    Wouldn't you agree that expressing yourself would be more effective if done via audio or video than written??

    1. Compared to the competition we will definatley be more cost effective, Job Stunt is niched to this unique interview process, people go on Craigslist/Gumtree to apply for jobs the conventional way. If you want see and hear a large pool of candidates before the interview stage then Job Stunt is were you will find them. We also most likely will be niching it so just Media and Sales Jobs as this were a candidates confidence,personality and verbal communication skills needs to shine the most and this would be the perfect platform for that.

    2. a way we would will definatley be able to differentiate our self is through our app, with our iphone app candidates will be able to record video and audio answers and directly apply for vacancies from the comfort of their phone, Also with job stunt we plan to have an inbuilt system were candidates who apply for jobs will be told when they are unsuccessful. One of the biggest pet hates is applying for jobs and not receiving any reply what so ever!

    The whole idea behind Job Stunt is getting the young people to be more innovative in their job search and looking for alternative ways to get noticed, if everything goes well our future plans are to create employment training seminars for young people in helping them in their job search.

    The way i see it is video/audio/photo is big right now and it is definatley the future with things like viddy,keek,twitter,spotify,insta etc it would be good if there was something that the youth could use that would actually benefit themselves career wise!

    however the big question is will the recruitment process ever evolve to something like this? or will it always be the standard way?

    anymore questions please feel free to ask!

    @hairbo

    I do agree with you, but I don't think you can completely dismiss a written resume or cover letter. It's a lot easier to skim a cover letter or resume than it is to watch a video. However, maybe if you combined the two well it would work, but I don't think a purely video/couple questions model could work. It would take forever to review all the candidates. Anyway, I think there's potential, but you should definitely go talk with as many recruiters as you can find and see what they think. That'll also help answer your question about whether the recruitment process could ever evolve into what you are thinking.

    Anyway, good luck!

    Were not dismissing the resume at all the questions are just an 'add on' to assist the resume like a cover letter would do

    The way it would work for recruiters is that they would first filter the resumes and then use the videos for further filtering.

    That's a good idea and helpful. But I think you need to think of something else unique. There are a lot of existing websites that do this too. You know, people will look for something more different than others that is trending nowadays. Hope you can come up with an effective one.
