Before buying a online website, be clear about your objective, think about these questions : how you will measure the success of the web site?Who are your audiences? What do you expect visitors to gain from your site? How will you proactively maintain the content of your site on a day to day basis?

Besides, to prevent purchasing a site which is cheating, check the seller on Whois search database.

It's different based on your reason for buying it. Are you looking for sites that make money from sales or from advertising, are you looking for a site to grow or to manage, what is your budget and what is your experience in all this? None of it is overly complicated but you need to have clear objectives before moving into this industry or you'll just send up wasting money.

How much traffic it gets and from where? Search engine traffic is the best. How much it earns per month and records for as long as they have records of, preferably at least a few months records so you can see that it's not temporary.

If I helped you or you just want to donate a blogroll link to me, it'd be much appreciated. Do I expect that anybody will help me out? No, but it never hurts to ask

    This basically sums it up.

Is it a business that sells things or provides services or just a website loaded with content? How does the site produce its income? Subscription fees? Advertising? What a sites worth and what you should pay for it all depends on the site in question and what you want to do with it after purchasing it.

For example, if the site is a car community and you were looking to buy it with the intention of selling car merchandise and equipment. I think you would want to take a look into the member base at the site. Do these members regularly spend money on equipment to enhance the appearance and performance of their cars or are they everyday people who just signed up so they could get answers to their minor car troubles and will probably never come back? Obviously the first of the two would put you in a better situation to sell merchandise on the site.

You need to know what target market it is aimed at, what niche.

As well as the current flow of traffic, so you may plan to increase this.

How is "said" site being monetized. What income streams is it creating for you, and your buisiness.

I would do a little more research before moving into this industry. If you want a site to make money off of advertising you are going to need and amazing amount of traffic. I have a site that gets 50,000 hits a month but only makes $30 per month. That does no one any good.

a site needs time under it's belt. the point where word of mouth and return customers are a decent percentage of your sales. having that exposure is huge when you have a website.

This question again? I would say you need to know more about websites in general if that is your only question. Go to Amazon and buy a book on web based companies and maybe another on internet marketing. If you are trying to make money by owning sites then they will help. If you are trying to make money as a web designer then you need to take a whole other route.

I want to make money of internet marketing. But, i also want to learn how to develop the site on my own, so that way i can save money.

If you have either a hobby or interest the way forward maybe to start a small blog with http://www.blogger.com you dont have to pay for anything even the hosting is free. This will give you some feel on how to setup a site and you can then add some forms of revenue and get that all important feel on how to promote your site.Just a suggestion

This is actually an excellent idea. You can learn a lot of the basics from a blog. Although I would recommend using WordPress. You can even mess around with a little HTML there... You can install adsense for free and learn the basics about implementing effective advertising campaigns.
