Sell products that you have a personal interest in. You're going to be eating/breathing/living through your e-commerce site, putting in many hours. If you're not enjoying it, you may find yourself quickly getting bored.
You'll need to do competitive analysis as well -- figure out what unique proposition you offer vs. other stores selling the same item.
