Buying an online business vs. starting a new one from fresh

    Hi everyone,

My name is Kathy and I am looking to either start or buy an existing Internet business that I can run from home.

What I want is to work in the service industry and help people, and in particular I like to provide book editing services or writing content for websites, etc.

I want to see if i can buy an existing online business that has clients, has an existing revenue model, has an infrastructure, ie. website, marketing, merchant account payment processing, promotions, telephone lines, etc.

If you have a business like this, and want to sell it, or want to help someone start this up or even have any ideas on how I can start and run similar business for myself, I would VERY MUCH appreciate your help.

I can even offer some money for your advice and your help.

    Thank you
    Kathy

I think it depends on a lot of things.
Of course, the new one can be better than the existing. Marketing, structure of the website, design, prices... etc These are very important factors !

    Hi Kathy,

Have you tried landing writing jobs online yet? There are so many ways to write and get paid online you may want to start with this route first and if you like it and the business does well invest some of the profits into your own website. By writing through freelance and other paid to write websites you will build up a client list and portfolio that can help you launch a new business or add onto an existing one if you choose to purchase an existing business and go that way. Now there are literally 100's of different paid to write opportunities on the web and I would strongly suggest trying some of these first before starting your own business or buying an existing one.

If you can't find an existing site, I would suggest you start a blog in the interim. You can write posts, and try to build up your nblog by linking your posts to other similar posts written by other bloggers of the same topic. Also if you visit other blogs and start commenting, people will take notice of you and eventually start to look at your own blog. Another thing about commenting on other posts, when your name becomes familiar to the blogger they may offer you to write a guest post for them.

I think you can build up a new website and then cooperate with a search enginee to promote your service.

If you have the money and there is an online business out there that you would enjoy running, then buy. If you see a gap in the market and have more time than money, start a new business.

It is always better to buy new one and establish it yourself in order to build its reputation yourself rather than buying used one that might not have worked out.
