    Buying a Website

I have won an auction for a website just now. This is the first time Im buying a website. So I would like to know how is the website/business transferred to me.What are the things I should take care so that it is ensured that the website and the related business is transferred to me.

The buyer wants payment through paypal. Is that ok.

Hows the transaction here.Is it that I pay him first and then the site is transferred to me or viceversa.Whats the normal practice in these deals.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

PayPal is indeed a safe way of transferring money- many big companies use it as well as small ones!

I assume the seller will either give you the hosting account, or otherwise give you the files, database and domain name. You'll just have to upload it, switch the nameservers and keep the site going (:

It depends on the value of the website really,if its a small value site then Paypal would be fine but for a high value site Escrew or Moneybookers would be my choice as i feel you would get better protection just incase anything did happen while the transfer is happening. This is only my opinion though

PayPal is ok for small transfers, anything in thousands I would recommend to discuss a lawers and make a contract.
    What I would recommend is:
You will first get all site files to be uploaded to your hosting account and when you are ready to launch then you transfer the money, seller will unlock the domain name so you could transfer it to your domain

It will be more diffucult if you buy a site with existing hosting account, because then you need to re-register all account information. So, why not to create a new account for yourself.

I would have said the General Business section,as far as i can see that would be the best one YE does not have just a dedicated section.Go ahead and announce it.

    hi,
Your are buying a WEBSITE RIGHT ( NOT A domain) So depending upon the business, take some marketing steps. Like Press Release and Article Submission> It will help in getting traffic
