    Buying a Business HELP

    Hey,

I was browsing through ebay and i saw a couple people trying to sell their established websites. Some that interest me were poker sites, and sports fans website. In the description, it says that the websites are "drop ship", meaning that people go on an click and it will direct them to amazon. This way i don't have to update inventory and etc.

What are the catch to these? and, what are other things i should look at before buying one?

    Thanks

hmm. Steve your question is a little confusing. dropshipping is when you have an agreement with a manufacture or company that will ship their product directly to your customer so you don't have to carry inventory ect. but clicking on an ad and being redirected to amazon or another website selling something is called affiliate marketing. I think your question is regarding affiliate marketing. What you should do is google "affiliate marketing" and understand the term. There is no real catch just make sure you can see the websites traffic and profit per month before you buy.

The biggest mistake most people make regarding buying an existing small business is not being prepared. This is the reason why many people never actually pull the trigger and buy. As a matter of fact, that statistic is around 90%. That’s right- approximately 10% of all people who look for a business to buy actually do it.

You are not going to buy a successful business off of eBay at any price... end of discussion.

I second that, I think Flippa is your best bet. Around 95% of ebay so called internet businesses are pure nonsense.

i would be wary - treat it the same way you would if you were buying a business in 'real' life.

I'm newly looking into affiliate sites. They are rather easy to setup for little to no money upfront. I would be very wary when buying something like this. Very cheap, easy to setup with information freely available on the web. If its successfully making money why would the person even sell it.

If you're looking to buy an established site you should definitely look into the traffic the site is already generating. Use sites like Cubestat.com or Alexa.

Getting traffic to your site is probably the most difficult part of making a website profitable and it is especially difficult if you're operating in a market with lots of competitors.

The probability of finding a good website on ebay is pretty low. I agree with waterbymidnight that you would have better odds on flippa -- but make sure you know how much traffic the site is getting before buying.
