    Women's Business Research

I ran across this research recently
"According to the Center for Women’s Business Research, women-owned firms account for 40 percent of all privately owned firms and as of 2008, more than 10 million firms were owned by women, providing jobs for more than 13 million people."

What reasons do you think women, specifically, are attracted to entrepreneurship? Is it merely the flexibility it affords or are there other reasons why you as a woman have chosen to go in to business for yourself?

I think flexibility has a lot to do with why men or women are attracted to owning their own business.

I know I became an entreprenuer because I wanted freedom. I couldn't imagine a life of having to answer to others. However when I started my first business, I really had no concept of the difference between owning a business and owning a job. I started out owning a job and actually had less freedom than if I worked for someone else. That's when I learned how to become the business owner and transistioned from being the key employee in my business. Most female entrepreneurs I talk to don't want to be controlled, which supports the research of building firms and leveraging their time with employees so thier business doesn't control them either.

In this modern world, surely women do not wanted to be left behind. Women are more open now to possibilities. Women nowadays are more bolder when it comes to attitude and career.
