I am just starting my own business but I know a lot of women who run a lot of companies. What they all seemed to do, and what I am trying to do, is focus on the small details and also focus on the people you work with. Having a big picture is amazing but you need to lay out what you want as your end result and try to lay out all the steps it would take to get there. When you find sections you are not good at find someone who is. My male bosses try to do everything themselves and they dont give the trained people the opportunity to do their job without being dumped on.

Thats a good one Mandy. We due tend to let our egos get in the way at times instead of delegating we get the "if you want it done right do it yourself mentality"..

And mtnjkwe, I agree.. not to be less manly in my pursuit, just trying to gain new perspectives, but yah, point taken there also..haha a lot of women i know do tend to be a bit indecisive...women, without getting into to big a debate about it think that could be a point worth thinking about

Women will make sure the environment of their new business or business venture is attractive and alluring to their audience as to where men will build their business environment according to what they personally are fond of.

Interesting, I agree, girls are good at that.. thanks for the tip Neriahshouse, think as men we tend to find products first then customers for those products. Most entrepreneurial women I've spoken with had an audiences then later found they could provide them a product they demanded. Something to think about!

yes, that's apparently another myth about about female entreps
    http://www.dianaproject.org/Data/pub..._dispelled.pdf

The majority of the 23 million businesses in the U.S., whether owned by men or
women, are small, but only a small percentage of the large businesses are led by
women. That is not because all women entrepreneurs desire to have small firms.
Some women, like their male counterparts, aspire to build high growth businesses that
require outside funding. More than 80 percent of the Springboard applicants reported
wanting to grow their ventures as rapidly as possible. They indicated that they would
consider public or private sale to achieve liquidity. One indicator of the
aggressiveness of new ventures is the size of the market that they target.
The Springboard data showed that more than half of the applicants
estimated the size of their target markets to be more than 15
billion dollars and international in scope.
Other evidence of growth aspirations is the average dollar
amount sought by entrepreneurs. An analysis of the
Springboard 2000 forums showed that the average amount
requested by the presenters was slightly over $10 million, while
the average amount requested by applicants averaged $2.5
million — well within the range of average start-up investments
    for men-led ventures.14
It is clear these women want to grow their companies and are interested
    in acquiring the equity funding
that will make development and expansion
    possible. Women also seek equity
investments throughout the life span of
their businesses. Of the Springboard 2000
applicants, 53 percent were in beta stage.
Of the 47 percent of firms already
launched, 20 percent were five years old
or older. In addition, an analysis of firms
    reporting to Venture Economics showed
that early stage investments accounted for
63 percent of the investments in womenled
ventures, while 20 percent were for
expansion, and an additional 8 percent of
    the investments supported acquisition or
    buyout activities.

I run a photography business with my partner who is a woman, and I must say I feel it is definately an advantage to have a business run by both sexes. We seem to compliment each others weaknesses. Where I excel at details and work ethic, she excels at connecting with the clientele and making them feel comfortable. We wouldn't be as successful without one another.

Good read, thanks Akula, and i agree Rich, women by their very nature are generally speaking more emotional and nurturing in nature and approach business in ways men typically cannot. Which is why I asked the question to see in what ways we as male counterparts can see business from a different perspective.

There is a sense of community among women perhaps starting with the woman's rights movement which i see as a good thing. I think that is a strength we as men will most likely never experience due to our own nature, however its something needed.

Not saying there needs to be a men's rights movement exactly, but we could benefit from a sense of community as well, there are not many sites dedicated to manliness.. here's one of my favorites though http://artofmanliness.com/ .. that aside women please continue, great feedback!
