V-WISE (Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship) is a premier training program in entrepreneurship and small business management. The program is open to all women Veterans (and now open to active duty females and partners/spouses of active duty personnel) who are interested in learning about entrepreneurship and starting, running or growing a business. Participants may be from any branch of the military and across any era of service.
The training consists of 3 phases: online, conference, and mentorship. The online segment is a 35 day online program designed to teach the participant the “language of business” in preparation for the conference. The online portion is followed by a 3-day conference, which will be held in 7 different cities across the United States, including San Antonio, Baltimore, Tampa, San Diego, Kansas City, Seattle and Denver. The participants will learn from some of the most accomplished academics, entrepreneurs, and Fortune 500 CEO. There will also be many opportunities to networks with other veterans, all in an effort to help each participant realize their business ownership goals. The 200 seat conference courses will include topics such as operations, finance, marketing, human resources, government contracts, and work-life balance. After the conference, our graduates then enter into a post-training mentorship program to continue build a support network and, find resources positioned to help them to continue their quest to start and grow a business.
This program is funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration and administered by the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. Due to the SBA funding, the cost to the participant is minimal. The participant is responsible for a $75.00 registration fee and transportation to and from the conference. All other expenses are covered, i.e. hotel, books and food. Please visit the V-WISE website for more information and/or to apply: whitman.syr.edu/vwise
