Create a professional website. Write lots of free content that target your audience and your keywords. What is your hook? Why are you qualified? Why go to you for expert advice? Start a blog or forum.

You'd better be more specific. There are a lot of stragedies which can be used, though, SEO is really the bet one. Anyway, all depend on the results you want to achieve. However, even the best strategy can occur to be harmful if it's used inproperly.

I don't think there's one marketing strategy that you should be doing since it depends on what you're trying to sell. If your customers are online, advertising there via Facebook, Twitter, websites, Google AdWords, etc. is a good idea. But if you just want to get people to come to your store, then that's a whole other deal.

Think about where your ideal customer is and market to them there.

Basically you want to build up a reputation in your field to get people to value your opinion so that they know you are an expert in this field. To do that start commenting on blogs that are relevant to your niche. Publish articles like mentioned already. Try to speak at a local business function. Get listed in local search engines. Most importantly with all this be non-self promotional, people don't like it when you try to push a product at them.
