Young Melbourne entrepreneurs

Hey there ppl,

You know, there isn't much of a young entrepreneur network/forum in Melbourne Australia. I was wondering if there is anyone from Melbourne running businesses, starting ventures, who has won government grants in here?

I've started and running my third one at the moment, but it would be nice to know I'm not the only one on my own out here. I can manage three because two of them are seasonal - small businesses but I've just defered uni so I can seriously grow them (getting to the point where I feel study is the only thing holding me back from doing the things I really enjoy...hehe...reading IBISworld reports in the middle of the night, really!)

Even if you're not local, I'd still like to hear from you guys and gals. =) I'll be travelling to NZ, UK and USA within the next few years to learn from the big guns as yourselves.

Ken.

Ken.

Yaro Starak is the guy that runs those... but he's in brisbane

I agree with cang, we need a national (or at least each state) young entrepreneur network. I know WA has a very good network setup which can be found here: http://www.youngbusinessnetwork.sbdc.com.au/ ... but the other states don't seem to have anything.

The http://www.youngentrepreneur.com.au/ forum is alright, although it's a very slow forum.

cheers

Hi Nado,

thanks alot for the links. I didn't know there was such thing as a youngentrepreneur.com.au site at all!

I'll definately check that out! Oh, Yaro Starak, checked out his portfolio, it's pretty good but I'm more interested meeting people actually running their own show physically - eBay, online internet, etc I understand it can be potentially big - but looking to get to know, learn, toss ideas in person with people starting and/running finance/business services/construction/hospitality - the usual small businesses.

there YEO in australia, but u need to have made 1.4 million first before they invite you to join. guess I just have to create my own networks hey??? lol.

Anyone in Melbourne, feel free to buzz me on 0422 358 847 anytime after 9pm, it'll be nice to get to know other young entrepreneurs out there. Coffee at federation square sounds nice yeah? =) Even if u're interstate and popping by, give me a call.

Ken (cang) - Ken's easier to pronounce.

Hope to hear from you's.

Hrm...I wonder what people mean by 'young'...18-40 like the BRW young rich lists??

Thanks again Nado

no probs

Oh ok, so you're looking into selling products online only? No services?

I've been reading through yaro's blog for a while now and he seems to be doing pretty good with his simple online editting business... bringing in upwards of $10k a month which is fair good for single online service business.

hmm, it'd be nice to meetup with a like-minded entrepreneur/budding-entrepreneur... but Melbourne is a little far away (I'm four hours south of Syndey)

cheers
nathan
