    Who's Optimistic for '09?

Anyone excited for the new year? I am! What are your predictions? When do you think this economy will bottom out, and start heading the right way?

The more chaos the easier it is the rise on the scene, look at all the wonderful businesses started up when the great depression started, im optimistic for entrepreneurs but no so much for hedge funds and other financials.

i think the housing market will bottom around aug. / theres a possibility it will get pushed back a little longer though, overall though im no too optimistic about the economy as whole, americas as a country is in trillions of dollars of debt and its ppl are in debt .. and from a county perspective it means less and less countries are investing in america making the problem 10 x worse

Jeez only 1 person has posted about being optimistic?? Don't all jump in at once! Either everyone's having a bad day or you're just a bunch of downers in general.

I had great success in 2008 and expect to have even more explosive success in 2009. As for the economy as a whole...well...I think it suffices to say we are not going to have an amazingly great year. That doesn't mean you can't have success. I know many entrepreneurs including myself who are not only surviving right now but thriving and doing better than they ever have before. So don't throw your towels in, everybody. The economy may be in the toilet (that's an understatement), but leaders are made in times of adversity. Be positive!

The economy doesn't affect me TOO MUCH. I am in a wealthy area (actually #7 of towns bigger than 20k and the #1 is about 5 miles away) . I just got a new location yesterday... they are custom building it for me. I think 2009 is my year!

I can't wait to quit my full time job and walk out the front door for kiss my *** time!

Well its good to see there are some people optimistic about the new year....logically speaking I know that there are going to be some tough roads ahead for me, being in retail and all....2008 was not my year...so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for 09, and hoping for the best

I am cautiously optimistic about 2009. When there is a recession there is typically a up-swing in entrepreneurs out of necessity (i.e., losing jobs). So while I think it will be a tough start to 2009, I think by the end of the summer we will start to see a different and growing economy.

If you want 09 to be a good year, you'll make it a good year regardless of the economy.

You learn the most when times are hard. Be positive, alert, and proactive this year and you'll be better off than most.

Who knows when the economy will turn around. My prediction is that when we hit "the bottom" we'll stay there for a lot longer than most want to admit. That doesn't bother me. We all need to become more lean(my opinion).

Learn as much as you can this year.

From what I've been reading/hearing from ''experts'' (I use this very loosely), the economy should hopefully start looking up in the next 12-18 months, meaning '09 will be rife with market volatility in response to impending employment, drops in retail, the automotive sector, real estate, and the search for whatever happened to the all that bailout money!?!?! hehe Enjoy the ride, stay calm, and stay the course. Keep building your business and work hard. Best in '09 and beyond!

It's not easy to make order out of chaos. Yet I'm still hopeful though everyone is hurting due to the economic downpour. Bill Gates can you hear me???

I don't know if I'm fully optimistic. I do see a bottom to this crisis this year. With that being said I think it will take 5+ years to get a decent economy going again. I fail to see what new technology or innovation is on the horizon that can drive an economy like the information revolution did. Those types of up cycles come around only once per generation (or even per century).

This does not mean that individuals can't still make it big. 2008 was my best year ever and it was the first time I ever did over $1M in sales (for myself). The 4th quarter was a disaster but I was able to start a new company (bookstore) that is doing very well. I plan on expanding on that this year. While doing so I also have to comment that my primary business (non-profit consulting & fund raising) is seriously struggling right now. I'm doing my best to get creative with this but I can't seem to get a pace going like I did in the 1st half of 2008.

I'm definitely excited! I know this year is going to be a great one for me financially and just over-all. All of the things I've learned on my tough internet marketing journey are priceless. I greatful and thankful everyday.

if you buy into the bad state of the economy then you will suffer as your mentality is one that is willing to accept a drop in profits, etc... so your business and bottom line will suffer... staying optimistic is great but more importantly stay PROACTIVE (and i don't mean the pimple cream)
