Question Which education do YOU have?

    Which education do you have?
I am interested to hear what kind of education people have, since I am in my early process of planning my future education studies.

I personally want to study something I can put into context to my entrepreneur ambitions, which of course already points me in the direction of a business school or business college or something similar.

I am personally from Denmark, Copenhagen, and I am really keen on studying abroad instead of going to the Copenhagen Business School, which is why I am looking at other opportunities in the UK and US.

Let me know people, what education do you have?
Always interesting to listen to other peoples stories.

    Hey Daniel,

I'm only 15 years old, so I don't have a college education or anything like that. I want to graduate High School with a good diploma, but I have no interest in college. I find school very long and boring. I know that sounds naive, but I don't lie.

It is true, I fully understand that. I felt the exact same after I graduated high school, and I promised myself that I NEVER should study again (or at least not for the next couple of years).

I have had 3 sabbatical years now, been out seeing the world and been working in many different sectors of the market, and first now, 3 years after high school, do I feel that I am ready to carry on with my further studies - but only studies I can put into context with my ambitions of entrepreneurship of course.
    - even though I promised myself not to.

I have an associate degree (degree issued by a community college, a public institution that's a cross between a university and a trade school) in Office Management, and a computer technician certification, called an A+ certification in the US. I went to a vocational school for nine months to get the cert. I could have just crammed and passed the tests, but I wanted more in depth learning. I don't have too much post-HS education.

If you want to study in the US, I'd recommend studying at a community college. Depending on the city, they specialize in different things. De Anza College in Cupertino, CA has a good technology program, since it's in the heart of Silicon Valley. Sacramento City College specializes in health care. California charges the least in tuition (it goes by state). It depends on what you want to learn. Colleges around Washington DC specialize in US government, while some places in New York are known for finance. (New York State's community college system is awful though, you might try San Francisco if you want to learn finance, but be warned that CCSF has a load of diversity requirements, meaning you have to take classes on such things as homosexual culture.)

Private business colleges generally focus on turning out managers instead of entrepreneurs, and the little entrepreneur training in the US is at the graduate level. If I wanted to learn business/finance, I'd probably attend City College of San Francisco. I briefly attended there in 1994-95. San Francisco rents are extremely expensive, try looking on Craigslist under SF Bay Area for an idea of rent. You'd probably have to go in with a couple other students and rent a small flat, or live in one of San Francisco's old roach hotels.

I currently have a BS in Information Systems from the University of Indianapolis School of Business. I had a very strong understanding of everything IT before I even began school (started when I was 23 and had been working in IT since I was 18). Beyond this, I am an MCSE (attained this at the age of 22), and I am a CCNA (just got this a month ago). I have also graduated from a partisan political program during my senior year of school.

Ultimately, I think that students should not forgo working to go to school; I worked a full-time job while I was in school, but I still went to school full-time. The job was directly related to what I wanted to do (actually, you can say that school was directed towards the work I had been doing). The point of an education is to enrich you and prepare you for work and to make you a critical thinker. I find there is nothing better for this than working in what you strive to do; school just helps to ramp you up more quickly.

Beyond this, I plan on getting an MBA (beginning some time next year), and possible going to law school (but do not intend to ever practice law; only about 50% of law school graduates do practice).

Later in life, I may go back to school to become an architect... but that would just be for fun.

I left school many years ago with no higher education what so ever as long as i could read and write that suited me,i admire people who do go on and get a degree or even higher education but i still say that it is not essential to get on in the world generally and even the business world as long as you use your common sense and determination and never give up you will get to your goal it may take slightly longer than if you had some form of paperwork but it can be done.

Currently pursuing a BS in Finance and Economics at the University of Maryland. While I do not absolutely love school, I try my hardest and will finish in two years. I'm a true entrepreneur at heart and feel school is relatively pointless, to a degree. Just my two cents...
