Lightbulb Where do you get your knowledge?

I'm just curious where you gain your knowledge.
    • Did you get it from college?
    • Did you get your experience from working for someone else?
    • Did you get experience doing it on your own?
    • Do you read books? Which books?
    • Do you have personal mentors?
    • Do you pay a "team" to do everything for you?
    • Do you get your knowledge from online resources?
    any other sources?

    Very little from College
Most work experience from working for large corporations
I have done several things on my own to make money, not all successful but they all taught me lessons
I read voraciously, reading david Bach got me out of debt, Rich Dad Poor Dad got me into self improvement, right now I read marketing and PR books
My father and my boss both take time to mentor me
I am a Director in an Insurance company so I have a team, but I keep busy
Online resources is just more reading no?

Talk to friends who have their own businesses, or who are interested in making money. Don't surround youself with losers as they will drag you down.

Read newspapers, especialy the financial sections

Buy equities in industries that interest you, you will pay more attention to those financial pages when you have some skin in the game.

When you fuck up big time and hate yourself, look at the situation for what you can learn. There is usually a lesson that will pay dividends later in life.

Getting knowledge from online resources is one of the great source of knowledge especially if you have done some leg work offline for business development.

Learned everything through my own business and from working at Selling Power Magazine as a web designer, this has given me the opportunity to work with Landslide, HR Chally, SugarCRM and many other top performers.

Knowledge of what exactly? If it's knowledge of business than i got it from college and work experience. If it's knowledge of internet related business than quite frankly i'm still looking for it! If it's knowledge of investing than i got some from college and the rest from books (The 4 pillars of investing, Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits, Random walk down wall street, Berkshire letters to shareholders to name a few). If it's knowledge of personal finance than i got it from common sense and books (wealthy barber, millionaire next door, tightwad gazette).

I tried having a mentor once but found that it did not suit me. To each his own i guess.

    Best Regards

i follow blogs in areas I'm interested in

for example, here's a list of vc blogs I read http://del.icio.us/hotblogger/venturefeed

I learn everything about startups from there

It's a good place to learn because the info is current, because the author is an authority, because you can ask the author questions/leave comments and because the author has their reputation on the line (i.e. they won't write bullshit)

I tend to learn best from personal experience and working with others who are more experienced than myself. I always try to surround myself with other successful people who's strengths are my weaknesses and learn from them.

    Sources of Learning Business

I've learned from many of those sources. Not college though. There are probably two main sources that I have learned from:

    1. Figuring it out because I have had companies and had to. There are so many resources online for this.

    2. Getting people involved with me in business that are experts in the fields needed. My learning curve goes straight up from this.

Everything I know I learnt myself. I can't learn from other people so I learn my way, buy I'm dyslexic! Business was the only way for me I could never get a job that would support a house and a car and that's the reason that 90% of people in prison are dyslexic.

Because if you can't read or write or do simple maths who’s going to take you on in the real world? So to survive to turn to crime!

I get my knowledge from all of those...
I would focus most of my attention on Books...I have an awesome thread in another forum regarding great business books. Here is the link http://forum.richdad.com/forums/tm.a...mode=1&smode=1

I have personal mentors as well. Befriend someone that has what you want, and then learn all that you can from them, and ask them to privide some guidance.

There are some awesome online resources! I think the e-book I am sharing is pretty good!

    Have a great day!
