Where and How Do I Find Problems to Solve?

I think most of us will agree that the entrepreneurialism is essentially a problem-solution process. There's a problem identified and an individual (the entrepreneur) takes risk to solve it and profit from the execution of the solution, accordingly.

I think the problem-solving, critical-thinking skill set I’m acquiring as an undergraduate computer scientist will be an advantage as an aspiring entrepreneur, but the question remains: Where and how do I find problems to solve?

While I have been getting better at being informed about the world about me, such as keeping up with social events by monitoring the media, I'm troubled, grieved almost, that I haven't identified problems that could be solved and profited from (at least in my capacity).

Again, where and how do I find/locate problems to solve? Is there some resource that I can go to listing domestic or international problems in need of addressing? Is there some central resource that people gravitate to to list their problems, issues, complaints?

Perhaps this an entrepreneurial venture of its own...

Sounds like you already have found a problem to solve

But seriously, what sort of problem do you want to solve? There are litterally millions of problems to be solved. Some small, some large. Some to make money off of, some to solve for the fun of solving, etc.

I would try to find something that annoys you and solve it. Maybe this will inspire you; a short story about The Ballbarrow by James Dyson.

What a cute story, J. Here we see that James identified a problem and crafted a great alternative to existing product, actually an improved one, to address the fallacies of the existing product.

It's exactly this that I'm after. I want to know what problems, complaints, and even, annoyances, that people experience on a daily basis. I think my first true entrepreneurial venture will come as a result of having a clear cut solution to a problem that a mass of people have and no one has identified a feasible solution to.

As to what kind of problems I'm after? I don't have any specifics at this time.

    Thanks J.
