    What's your hustle music

When you really need to get stuff done, what do you listen to? I usually pick Jazz - seems easier to stay on track. However, every once in a while I'll mess with some 90s rap or some deftones =).

If you want to be in a state of auditory extacy from now on...check out pandora.com - this is where I listen to ALL of my music now (when I'm not in the car - I'm soon getting the Pandora squeezebox so I can stream music wifi to my stereo)

    You can thank me later

Definitely rock and Rap. Rise against always gets me pumped up. Rap just talks about money so it motivates me to get my piece.

Good choices. I get where your coming from. Those are songs about getting some where in life and pushing yourself to be better, which is what we, as entrepreneurs, are all about. I'll have to check some of them out.

Since I'm a guitarist - I try to stay away from skilled guitar-based music when I'm trying to stay on task. I'd often find myself working on writing ad copy when all of a sudden I'd start to think "man I'd really like to learn this Dream Theater tune" or "I wonder how Steve Vai pulls off that sweep arpeggio..."

So I've turned to country, rap, or even the pop music of the day.

Come on, admit it...you guys have to admit that Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" is infectious!

I listen to hip-hop and R&B as well as some rock. Hip-hop being the most listened to. I listen to it if it sounds good. For example: I listen to mostly hip-hop and R&B, but I listen to a few rock group (Staind, Creed, Nickelback, etc.)

    Bob Marley/Reggae fan.

Rap used to be my grind music until these last past 2 years were it began to get terrible. Everybody wanta dance & act country now; but thats another topic.
Love Linkin Park, but thats about it. Old school R&B cool to.

    My music is...

the Big Band, Swing, Zoot Suit, and Boogie Woogie music of the 1920's to 1950's along with some of the new swing, including Brian Setzer, Zoot Suit Riot, and Manhattan Transfer.

My oldies swing and boogie goes all the way back to the Mills Bros. and Boswell Sisters. Connie Boswell and her sisters from New Orleans, were inspirational to then teenager, Ella Fitzgerald. Add in Will Bradley, The Dorsey Bros (both together and when they each lead separate bands), Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Gene Krupa, Cab Calloway, Harry James, Lionel Hampton,Mel Torme, Duke Ellington, Charlie "Bird" Parker,Louis Jordan, Django Reinhardt, Glenn Miller(one of the all time greats of Swing), and Stan Kenton to create a really great Pandora station.

I discovered Pandora several months ago, and have created over a dozen BB/Swing stations, along with others for variety - Leon Redbone and Willie Nelson (ballads and pop standards). I love the ability to tweak each station, adding select artists and songs, while blocking others.

Pandora has even searched for an added musicians who I requested but couldn't find - including Will Bradley, one-time King of Boogie. No one can touch his "Beat Me Daddy, Eight to the Bar"!

Before Pandora, I was primarily restricted to enjoying my music on a limited number of CDs, along with a growing collections of 33 1/3 LP records.

For a great movie that will introduce you to both swing music and swing dances, look for "Swing Kids". It's the story of the swing kids in Germany during the pre-war 1930's, when the Nazis where trying to eliminate everything that wasn't pure German. The jazz and swing music created largely by Jews and Blacks were particularly offensive to the Nazi leaders.

Django Reinhardt was a Gypsy, who had his own flavor of swing music that still lives today. He was one of the most prolific swing artists of the day, so it isn't that hard to find some good examples. If nothing else, you can probably find him on YouTube.com.

The latest artists to lay down some excellent Great American Standards and Jazz lyrics aren't Rod Stewart, Danny Aiello, and Michael Bolton. Check out Michael Buble', Dana Owens (previously known only as Queen Latifah), and Renee Olstead.

A free bonus for those who have stayed with me this far - Ever need to change a file format on your downloaded music? Check out Zamzar.com - They offer free file conversion of both music and graphic formats. I can convert a .jpg image to PostScript in less than 2 minutes, including the download time. I don't have an MP3 or iPod, so haven't checked on their music conversion service.
