What's Your Opinion On Yahoo Groups & Google Groups?
Hey All,
Before blogs, Yahoo! Groups were the hot way to build small groups and trade info, advice, etc. I have a few questions for you:
1. I'm curious to know if any of you still participate in any Yahoo! Groups.
2. If so, what is it that you like about them?
3. What do you think about Google Groups? So far, I'm not impressed.
From the looks of it, Yahoo! Groups still seem to be going strong. They're just not talked about much anymore... or am I just out of the loop?

I've actually never used Yahoo or Google groups, if I'm after information from a community I simply post in a forum site.
And if I don't already know of a forum in which I want to post, then I'll just search for one.
I think the problem with yahoo and google groups is they are non-niche to the extreme, so I tend to get put off by this thinking that there will be many people who have little to no knowledge on the topic.

You bring up a good point about the people in these groups. I've joined about 10 Yahoo! Groups within the past 2 months to see what goes on in there, and I'm not impressed. Except for one, all the others are basically a platform for spam. Not much life in these groups or at least the groups I joined, which all deal with Entrepreneurship. Too bad, there are many nice features in the Yahoo! Groups. Chat rooms are also available for group members, but no one seems to participate, go figure.
Hmmm... maybe I should ad chat to my blog.

lol... not at all, honest. Just thinking out loud.
Really though, why isn't chat as popular as it use to be? Other than the obvious reason... spam, I would love to have conversations with other Entrepreneurs.

The yahoo groups have been around a while, I think that is why they are on top of google. I prefer blogs though.
