What is Success?

One of my friends and I were talking the other day about how everyone has their own idea of what success is; and that topic is still on my mind.

For you personally:
What does success mean to you?
How will you know when you have become successful?

This isn't general information, because anyone can spew general information all day long; I'm asking what it is for you personally.

There isn't one set definition of success. Success is all about being truly happy with yourself, your accomplishments. Or it could be infinite wealth or a million dollar net worth. To me, it is true happiness. That's it. Success defined in its simplest terms.

for me succes would be to earn enough money to have no worries (basically be a millionaire haha), be happy and make something big of myself!

I like the concept of it being individualised, meaning we all define sucess as something different. But chasing true hapiness is an illusion that very few actually achieve. Movies,TV , Radio constantly make us believe this is a truly attainable goal .. like love ... you can be in love ( make do?) or you can be truly in love? (soul mates) if you search for true love you are setting yourself up for a fall.

I know there will be many rebutals to this but it's something i have pondered alot.

To me, success is being financially independent and enjoying what we work, and giving back to the society

Once successful I think you will simply feel like a success. Like turning a light switch on and off.

Just like anything else, success means different things to different people. It depends on where you are in life. For example, you may think that you're successful because you have amassed $1M in revenue. I may think that I'm a success because I took an idea and acted on it, regardless of how much we are generating right now.

I had this discussion with my wife a couple of weeks ago. I told her that we were successful business people because we actually did something about wanting to have and starting a business. Most people have great ideas, but their execution sucks. Because we put our ideas in motion, I consider that in itself a success.

Perception has a lot to do with it as well. You may not be where you want to be , but to other people on the outside looking in, you are successful because, again, you acted on your ideas where they didn't or haven't.
