    What do You Wear?

Just out of simple curiosity, I was wondering what your wardrobe looks like.

Lately, I've been trying to look a bit more professional and presentable, such as a dress shirt tucked in with nicer shoes. What do you guys think of jeans and sports coat? What kind of first impression does that give?

Anyway, I would be interested in getting ideas.

    Thanks.

What kind of clients or associates do you meet with? For most situations, dark blue jeans and a sports coat or blazer should be appropriate since, unfortunately, business has gotten less formal and more laid back. I usually wear a dress shirt, dark blue jeans, dress boots and a black suit jacket, however, when I meet in a more formal enviroment I wear a suit and a tie. I have always lived by the saying "dress for success". First impressions are very important and your appearance not only represents you as a person, but also your brand.

I'm a shorts and a Hawaiian shirt or Khakis and a polo kind of guy. I wear a button down and tie with slacks for an interview, or if the job calls for it (wore a uniform at a charter service I flew for).

This is why I am determined to make this internet thing work. That way I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Ha... I wear Wilbs on business trips. And most days for that matter.

...and the occasional suite. But mostly Wilbs for obvious reasons. I guess alot of that depends on what business you're in.

It all depends on the person I'm meeting with and the occasion. I agree with the "Dress for Success" attitude. I always feel more professional when I wear suits or dress shirts with slacks.

I don't go to a meeting with clothing more casual than a really nice polo tucked into nice jeans (no tears or designer markings) with dress shoes.

Presentation is key, whether you're doing business or not. I always try to evaluate myself to consider how I look to others when I'm out. You never know who you might run into.

When at work, for meetings, and speaking with clients...always a suit, I am one of those who could live in one.

When casual I always have a blazer and jeans and tucked in button down, loafers or some other comfortable dress shoe.

Typical product of Prep school all your life I guess, heh.

Awesome Richard! I thought I was the only guy who wished the 1920s was still in style.

for me, it depends on the season and weather... generally, i want to start out with a good waterproof and insulated boot... sorrels are pretty basic warm down to .-30 if you are moving around... but, just standing around your feet will still freeze. warm coat, gloves, (a nice felt hat (pendleton) if i want to get fancy otherwise a stocking cap)

if i am going to a meeting and i have to get there by snowmobile, of course i am wearing the proper attire... snow suite, helmet gloves... but if i can make it down this creek/ muddy snowy road in my truck and I want to get fancy and don't want mud up to my knees (jeans) or snow in my boots than i wear gators.

In the summer, (depending on the weather) and my destination... to the river fishing and than to a business dinner/lunch/sales meeting or, I am taking the cusstomer fishing and than to our studio I usually carry or wear a mosquito net, and waterproof boots or river shoes.

I do have 3 fancy ties, 3 fancy dress shirts and a couple of nice sports coats and dress overcoats, fancy black city shoes and 3 pair of those nice fancy shiney socks but I've only ever wore them to my dad's funeral... out here, it would be destroyed before i got to the truck! I suspect I will wear them again to my moms funeral. (and than to my own haha)

our customers are people who can afford our stuff... you know the type... taz flies them around in his plane and you all dress up to do business with them. they are probably the ones telling their young hires to cut their hair and dress for success...

I don't dress for the customer... more, that hurdle is overcome in the first 1 or 2 seconds... I work not on appearance issues but more on finding a level we both can communicate on.. Once we are both on the same thknking level (i meet the customers level or the customer meets mine or both) external things become irrelivant....

I can't imagine a customer mentioning my dress, beard or scraggly hair or thinking any less of my product or service than i would the customer wearing his fancy duds. we both have to work around it...

If I think the customer is looking at my muddy boots and the mud tracks coming into his office, I just flash a ruby or diamond in their eye and blind em haha

I like to think the customers appreciate a more honest and real look and association...

BUt, this is not New yourk city and everyone here is not as uptight about it...it's more laid back out here in Oregon...

What I would give for the dress of the 20's to come back. I work 7 days a week so I do have my days (Monday, Saturday, and Sunday) where I'm in jeans and a sweater (or tshit depending on the weather). If I have a meeting or if there is any chance a client is coming by my office then I'm 100% in a suit. If I'm out on the town I'm in at least a dress shirt and a sport jacket.

People listen to you more and treat you better when you are dressed appropriatly. This is just the way the world works... and hell the women love a guy in a properly tailored sharp suit...

During the day I wear slacks, button down shirt and nice shoes. When I am in court or meeting with a client I wear a suit, but my profession requires such dress. However I must be honest, I would love to wear jeans and a sport jacket all the time, maybe even with a hat. I dig the Hollywood producer look. haha

I have 6 shortsleeve shirts made of Crepe silk, all varying degrees of dark grey to black... That's what I generally wear, with some black jeans or slacks.
It's good because it's both formal, and casual at the same time...

Being Irishly pale, coloured clothes just make me look like I'm jaundiced

I don't wear anything. It attracts customers.
