    What do you really do?

I see so many people on here posting questions like this:
"How do I make money off of [insert any sort of social networking website or tool here]?"

    Or

"I own these domains, if I put adwords on them and start a blog on them will I make money?"

I mean, is this what some people are really doing? Hows that working out for you?

Because it all seems like a scam. I, personally, never click on banner ads or "Ads by Google". In fact, adblocker for Firefox makes them not even appear on websites that have them listed.

It just seems that there is a large percentage of people here who don't really "do" anything, y'know what I mean? Like, they don't operate a business or anything but are trying to make a easy buck off of social networking sites and what-have-you.

Which is what is killing good social networking sites, by the way. Facebook was way better before the games, before all the clubs and stuff. I just want to catch up on my buddies and see how they're doing, since I moved 1,500 miles away to operate a business.

Anyhow, just wondering everyone's thought on this. I was raised with the mindset that you're not going to earn anything without some work, which is why its disappointing for me to have to scroll past so many forum posts regarding things like I described above.

I mean, maybe its working out well for some of you. In which case, congrats.

    Thoughts?

Hi CGM. I think what you're reading is the heart of a lot of young entrepreneurs. The latest thing the guru world is pushing is the "make a million on twitter and facebook". These are just entrepreneurially interested individuals that haven't necessarily experienced the let down we get when we follow the empty sales pitches. It's great you see them as such but most people have to experience stuff (as hard as it is) to understand it. I know I had to be let down many times before I really understood some basic business truths. My years are showing on this post.

I replied because I am passionate about their excitement and because I've been where they are before. It's all a journey. I'll bet you've already learned these lessons before...

Great post. I am glad you brought it out. We'll be dealing with stuff like this in our webinars starting in January. Hope to have you aboard.

    Godspeed CGM -- :-)

CGM, one of the biggest mistakes you can make in business, unless you are in a very sharply defined, drilled down niche, is to allow your thoughts and feelings about "people" influence your business judgment. For 3 or 4 years I sold products online and from a mall kiosk from a dropshipper. I would not have had 1% of the goods I was selling in my own home, but that did not stop me from selling them.

While in the mall I bought out a lady selling incense and fragrance oils. When I came home and told my wife she could not believe it. First words out of her mouth were "You never like for us to burn it, how can you sell it?" "Because, even if I have no use for it on a personal basis, I can make money selling it" was my reply.

Like you, I don't click banners and google links, etc. But millions do, and that is what matters. If all you do is geared to your own outlook and opinions, you may not be very successful. Go with what works, whether it is something you would personally do, or not.

Oh, I was more or less posting this as a question to those who chose to venture down those roads.

I really have no experience in these online sources of income, whatever they may be.

I was just seeking some input from those who have gone those routes so I can obtain a better understanding of it. I just see a lot of things posted here about these things.

    Thanks for the responses!

Hey there, I own a website which sells online advertising! Personally this was a business venture to earn some capital so that I could:-

    1.) Live a decent-ish lifestyle
2.) Go on lots more business ventures!
