ummm.....might be a bad idea

do you have anywhere to stay? Do you speak the language? Are you up for not having the same freedoms as you do in the US (or UK, im not sure where you live.)?

I would suggest Singapore, that is a really fun place. Perfect little utopia. Wish I could go back soon, I was there a few months ago.

I agree with Rob.

You need to have a little background about a certain place before deciding to live there.

The language barrier is also a big problem and the culture as well.

Most of Chinese are not fluent English speakers so I suggest you to study their language first.

I think it's better if you try to go there first as a tourist then after that decide whether you want to stay for good or not.

I know China reasonably well and live in Taiwan at present.

There are plenty of people here in Taiwan (and I am sure in China) who do not speak much Chinese if any when they arrive.

Many graduates can get work teaching English and make reasonably good money compared to the USA as a raw gradate. They also get to pick up the language which may prove valuable later in life.

China is Safe. It is not the USA or Europe. If you are open minded and willing to try then why not visit first and make up your mind?

I moved to Hong Kong 7 years ago and have since lived in Vietnam, S Korea, and now Taiwan. This kind of life suits me, but is not for everyone.

Take your time, learn a little Mandarin and try to fund a visit. If you are serious about entrepreneurship then it is certainly the land of opportunity.

I'd go with Japan instead. Then you could visit China for cheap but not put up with the downsides of China.

I live in Taiwan now and have previously lived in UK, Korea, HK, Vietnam.I definitely love the lifestyle in Taiwan but I am in Taipei and understand the countryside can be a lot more challenging. You definitely need to speak some Mandarin here though. I would like to live in Shanghai for a while and my wife seems interested so maybe we will one day.

Keep us posted as to what you decide.
