VoIP Venting
Anyone here a Sunrocket customer? I am. I am one of 200,000 customers without service. Sucks but true. Apparently, last week they had slashed 25% of their employees without severance. Broadband geek talks say they are without anymore VC funds nor financial backing.
It seems that the lights had been turned off in the building as their voicemail even says "we are no longer taking customer service calls."
Lesson to be learned-when you are first gen user of a new technology, you are in for corporate issue blood baths, be prepared.
Just thought I'd voice out my frustration since my business is at a good halt this morning.

Should've chose Vonage... I had them and they were a great service to use.
So... what's the catch (more like what pissed me off) is when you try and cancel your account, they continuously try to market you a better plan that they have and they won't stop bugging you until you start getting angry with them, then they say okay we'll cancel your account.
Keep in mind they do charge a $30 early cancellation fee (atleast that's what they tried for me, the hell with them is what I say on the cancellation fee.)

No Gotcha Fees
During my research I found SunRocket to have a better product line than Vonage. Vonage also has patent violations and is in a shit load of trouble. It was a great service up until this morning. They just shot down the shop. I just renewed a new service for a year last April- ha ha - No gotcha fees, got me. Funny thing was, they were endorsed by so many media companies hence why I picked them over Vonage.
Oh well, it isn't too much the issue of money down the drain, it's getting my numbers back. Being home office, they are also my business lines. No word from the company on how they can give the numbers back.

I have had VOIP for a couple years now. When I chose to get it Vonage was relatively new, so I chose to go with AT&T (yes they have VOIP). At first it was about $5 to $10 more each month than vonage, but I thought that it was worth it just to go with a more established company. But now AT&T has dropped their prices and I think I pay the same amount as I would with vonage for the same services (unlimited minutes, vm, etc.).
Even if AT&T is forced to split again, or merges or anything, I doubt they would ever have trouble keeping the service up and going.

I disagree, when was the last time you seen SunRocket with a television commercial. This usually proves they are making some money... and they apparently weren't all that great if they soaked up all their VC capital and everything. Understand that Vonage has the capital and enough business to provide a commercial showing off their company.
This doesn't necessarily declare them the winner to being a better company. But its like this: If they can pay to show off commercials, they must be a much better company somewhere to have the capital to do so.
That's me though.

^^ Okay... a few guidelines:
1. Don't call me sparky
2. Don't call me dusty
3. Don't call me both at all period
4. Call me by my actual name, Dustin... if you can't do that then don't say my name at all
Now, in response to your topic... what is funny though is that I never tried SunRocket... but if you rarely heard them being talked about in a metropolitan area (like Baltimore) then they weren't really worth it.
Plus... it was rumored (or so I heard) that their E911 feature had problems or something... but once again, it may of been rumors but I read about that on a seperate forum.

I think all VOIP was having issues with 911 at first. So unless you are referring to something recent, then I don't really think it was a problem with any company in particular.
