twitter has many subscribers, but little activity

"Web analytics firm HubSpot found that nearly 55 per cent of 4.5 million Twitter members monitored have never "tweeted" - fired off concise text messages to others using the micro-blogging service.

More than half of Twitter members have no followers and about 55 per cent of them aren't following anyone else's micro-messages, according to a "State of the Twittersphere" report by HubSpot.

Meanwhile, a study by Harvard Business School researchers concluded that 10 per cent of Twitter members account for 90 per cent of tweets."

The backlash begins: studies expose Twitter hype

Who thinks that once the celebrities get bored with twitter, and move on to the next "big" thing, that it will die a quick death?
    Let's make some money.

You know what, there will always be the core users of twitter - it was used for a small portion of the population to interact and it just went viral. It may spiral back down to where it once was before the celeb bubble hit in, but I don't think they will die out. I follow very carefully, and in return I get quite a few of good followers back. I don't have a HUGE following, but when I post something I can track the results and I easily get an instant 80 clicks OF RELEVANT TRAFFIC. Something that is HUGE. I would take 80 clicks of relevant individuals over 8000 irrelevant. Know your traffic, then convert your traffic. Easily said, not so much done.
