The world's richest dropouts

It seems that a lot of high achievers are dyslexic. Tom Cruise is rumored to be dyslexic. Apparently dyslexics learn the value of perseverance via learning to read, and some apply it to other endeavors. One dyslexic I heard about taught high school English for 20 years. If you can find a copy of the book @Large, published in 1997, it tells the story of a severely disabled 20 year old-brain damaged from asthmatic fits as a baby, and whose parents didn't have the money to treat him-who became possibly the most successful computer hacker in the history of computers. He got into thousands of systems. He even got into "gray" computers at the NSA. He got into the computer that controls Oroville Dam in California. He tended to mistype commands, which means that the US Bureau of Reclamation was one mistype by this guy away from a truly incredible disaster. Occasionally, he'd erase a hard drive. One time he tried to stash the source code for the Sun Microsystems OS Solaris in a university server he frequented. The computer crashed. The FBI was so flummoxed by all of this that when they finally unmasked him, they decided to bury the whole case instead of parading this guy through a federal court. You'd be amazed what a little perseverance will do.
