The word 'Entrepreneur' and legal issues

How does this site (Young Entrepreneur) avoid litigation with Entrepreneur Media Inc. (EMI) considering it has "entrepreneur" in the domain?

They can't hold the rights to the word entrepeneur.

If they created a product and called it entrepeneur then they may have an issue if you called another product the by same name.

But in this case, it would be the same as a ladder company sueing anyone using the term corporate ladder.

Micro$oft does not have a case against companies that make windows (panes of glass that you look through) and they never will.

If you read the first case (dated 2004) it clearly outlines that there was an attempt to mislead the public. It would be similar to the microsoft case against that boy. The boy intentionally (if I remember correctly) choose that name to gain recognition.

However, in todays world anything is possible I suppose.

They haven't just attacked those trying to "mislead" the public. I'm afraid the word entrepreneur in any domain is ground for attack.

Whilst it does mention internet sites one, every one of the items on that page was a print publication. I think it's fair to say that there is a case for Entreprneur Mag to get upset about other magazines - like young entrpreneur - that have names which could infer that they were created by the same company, but I doubt there is much they could do about this site. And as a web designer I think it is morally wrong that they can command so much power over an abiguous word in a domain ame. There are only so many names in the world!! Look at the farcical case between M$ and Lindows. Come on folks - could any of you mistake the two products!?

Entrepreneur: THE WORD!

Yes, I too have been following the many attempts and attacks by the company EMI to try and secure and dominate the WORD entrepreneur.
This seems to be a BIG topic these days in the supreme courts around the USA.

They have been going after all of the companies that could be using the word entrepreneur in a print publication.

It will be interesting to see how some of these lawsuits end up.

Well I think that is gone too far - I believe many companies use "entrepreneur" in their life sometime.

Maybe they can sue me because I once said "entrepreneur" at a local convention!
