The wager: £20 to £200 in 2 weeks.

    Aloha there.

Now rather foolishly i made a wager with my father stating i could make £200 from just £20 within 2 weeks. Conditions being if i do it, he matches what i make, and if i dont, i move out like he has wanted me to for so long allowing him to turn my room into a spare room for rental.

Now, what i ask is, HELP!

I have no idea how to generate this money in this time scale, i have only ever operated through a buy and sell on eBay. You know the sort, buy cheap at car boots etc. and sell to collectors and such on eBay for a small profit. But this would never generate enough, so does anyone have any short term suggestions for this?

2 weeks is almost impossible, if you are allowed to stay in the house for another 2 months, maybe i can help up.

    1) Choose an area where there are at least 12 local restaurants and 2000 wage employees with day jobs. draw a circle from the center of that rea on a map with a radius of 2.5 miles.

    2) Start calling the businesses in your circle. Explain to them that you are working with local restaurants to make a daily specials flier that you would like to distribute free to area businesses by fax. Tell them that your trying to help locally owned restaurants get some more business in these tough times, and help them find something better for lunch than fast food. Ask if they would be interested in something like that.

    3) If yes right down the name of the business, it's fax number, and how many people work there.

4)repeat steps two and three with 100-150 local businesses.

    5) Start contacting locally owned restaurants. Explain you have a list of 700-2000 (add up all your businesses)people who work within 5 miles of their restaurant to whom you send a daily special flier. It arrives at the offices at 10:00 AM (right when they start to think about lunch) five days a week. You are selling space on the flier for $100 (insert local currency) a month. They get 4 lines to put in name, address, special, and phone number. They can change specials as often as they want put final special needs to be given to you 2 business days before delivery. They pay by the week ($25) with a month minimum commitment. delivery starts a week from the following Monday first payment due now to secure spot.

    6) Repeat this with restaurants until you have between six and ten. Ten is about all you can fit on one page. Don't fax multiple pages you become a pain and businesses ask to be removed from your list.

    7) Go into word and make an attractive flier. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the template I used if I can find it.

    8) Use your $20 to sign up fr e-fax or similar service that lets you do fax broadcast. Keep in mind that you are not spamming, you have permission, they want your fax.

    9) Keep it up until your restaurants decide to drop. I've found that a restaurant will want to stay on for between 2-3 months at a go then will drop for 6-8 months before resigning.

That really can make you $200 in two weeks easy. It's not a new idea, and it's been floated through forums before, but it was my first business and I netted about 30K for four months work.

    Sell drugs.

I would just rent your room out yourself in the next two weeks, pocket that cash, and have your dad match you.

Then you have enough for a down payment on your own apartment?

$20 isn't enough to start selling drugs, unless someone could spot you an ounce of bud and you can keep out of it yourself.

Aha thanks for the replies guys. Safe to say i will not manage this at all, i thought i could maybe scrape it by getting out of the house, scouting local ad magazines and trying to sell what i can get cheap, but just my luck is that most of my area is under a foot of snow.

well maybe not two weeks but a month you could .most towns have a local pound shop yes ?

well if its raining go buy 20 umbrellas for £20 (I) from the pound shop , sell for £2 each on the street (embaressing , but no one laughs when youv got plenty of cash ) anyway sell them and youve got £40 , or on a sunny day buy £20 worth of sunglassesand do the same , just double your money every time , i dont work unless im making atleast double what i paid or i see it as not worth while , ( well if its things im selling for £2 etc )

if you live near a beach you can buy £20 worth of ice lollies and go down the beach selling them , maybe not in this weather but you get my drift .

if your to lazy just dropship some shit on ebay you could make £200 in 2 weeks easy if you try hard enuff

The umbrella idea actually sounds really good. I would do that if I were you.

I would but pathetically, the local council has installed their own "£1 umbrella dispensers" around my local city centre. I could see how taking advantage of weather/situations could generate profit but for this i reckon i'm just going to sell off whatever unused junk i have lieing about and make up some bullshit story if i'm honest haha. But really glad i brought this to the forum, some great ideas from you guys.

I was just about to say the umbrella idea sounded awesome, but then you mentioned the dispensers. That sucks! :P Good luck to you though man, if you manage be sure to post what you came up with!

Works in scotland for me because its always raining here and theres no umberalla dispensars
i no its a bit late and your just about to get your room rented out lol but you could deliver leaflets for your local restaurants and say you get 5 different restaurants that will pay you to deliver there leaflets , you take all 5 piles of leaflets and sort them out so you can post 5 different ones in one post then your getting payed from all these different restauraunts for 1 lot of work instead of 5 (I) , or if your dishonest and untrustworthly through them in the bin and get payed then go play the xbox haha

Aha i managed to scrape it by selling my unused 360 along with the trash games i played once and put in a box. Also made about 50 quid off that 20 by buying a few CD's at a market stall and eBaying for profit. Dad definitely clocked onto me though haha, let me off with the room but wouldn't match the profit since he said i "unfairly" bent the rules of the wager... Fair enough.
