    Tell Me About Nascar

I recently read that nascar is the most watched sport in the USA, I have a tv station here in the UK called NASN which I subscribe to. It shows a lot of Nascar.

I was wondering if there are any fans and if you could tell me a little bit more about the sport. I know names like Dale Earnhardt Jr but thats as far as it goes.

I would also like to know about Nascar merchandise (this is a biz forum of course) , is it popular, sellable? Do you collect/buy Nascar stuff? What sort of prices are we looking at...

Nascar is HUGE in the US. I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I know several people working for tracks, marketing companies, etc. Between attendance and TV viewership, it is one of the most popular, if not the most popular sport in the US.

Just look at eBay to see how memorabilia is moving, as well as nascar.com. If you google Nascar merchandise you will get a million listings I am sure.

    What are you thinking about?

ive groan up watching nascar, however i would not consider me a "fan", it has just always been on in my house since i was little because my dad is a fanatic :P but i would think that there would be a good market there, just not sure if its over saturated or not. The fans are mostly adults 25+ especially around 30-55 i would say so you will have customers with some money

Yea i wouldnt consider myself a fan either. My dad always has the race on. I like IRL and F1 better. As far as merchandise, clothing, hats, anything. The big names are Dale Jr and Budweiser, Tony Stewart aka "Smoke" and Home Depot, Jimmie Johnson and Lowes, and Jeff Gordon and Dupont. NASCAR is really a fan based racing. Thats what they ha eon all the others they really take care of thier fans.

Sweet a NASCAR post!!! I would consider myself a huge fan, fanatic, or whatever you want to call me. I go to a race a year in Dover DE. Nascar is huge here in the US. The busch series has even gone to Mexico, and they are thinking about a race in Canada next yr. Now the truck series is the newest racing series.

There are too many big names to list. Nascar.com is a great place to get the down low on all of Nascar. another site I love to visit is WWW.JAYSKI.COM

I actually have been wanting to look into selling Nascar apparel. I have looked a little but not quite sure how good the profit would be? I know I love the sport and wish it were all year long. Now you can call me a red neck if you like , but the fact is I was brought up with Nascar and don't know what I would do without it being so big. I don't know of any other sport where for the first 5-10mins. the whole crowd is standing just watching to see what happens.

Well enough out of me. Dale Jr. and the #8 Bud car baby all the way!!!

i heard the same thing about nascar being the most popular sport in the us...it was a huge shock to me, but i think it has a lot to do with the area of the country you live in...cuz i havent heard of any drivers coming from new york or california...none of my friends or family members watch nascar and i've never found it appealing...im sure the market is saturated because it has such a huge following but its probably saturated with a lot of the same things...if you can figure out something different or exceptional to market you could do well cuz the fan base is crazy.

    Thumbs up

    Hey!

Cheers for the replies, when I asked yesterday I was just curious as to what others thought about Nascar, never really had an idea (business related), but I happened to stumble across a drop shipper for memorabilia this afternoon. Maybe I'll look into it, but at the moment Im sticking with the games as they are selling pretty well (see sig.)

Anyway I'll continue to enjoy the racing on NASN!!! Go Dale!!! lol
