success is not a luck. GOOGLE, IBM, GE, Emerson, MSFT does it look like luck?
hard work that you enjoy and fullfills you
idea is a start, execution is next, innovations is second and strategy is the key

Right on, man, right on.
Conservative opinions from someone who thinks a little differently than most.

It's a combination. But without the right attitude, as well as several other factors within your control, you won't be in a position to take advantage of the right things happening at the right times, or as some people call it, "luck."

I think you people are discounting luck in a big way... or coincidence at the very least.
Hard work is likely to reward you, but circumstances will do so even more. I know two guys that started business in the exact same field, about 6 months apart from each other. At the time (early 90s) no one else was getting in the products that these guys were, which happened to be English language versions of Japanese anime cartoons. They both worked equally as hard as each other at it. They both bought titles after researching the success rate of the title in the States. One guy was buying up titles that happened to be doing very well in a cross demographic market. The other bought a title that was a kinda ho-hum children's title. A toy line for the children's title came out, the damn thing exploded in the market, and he ended up getting bought out by Funtastic.Ltd for about $35m They were both doing equally well until another company that was totally unrelated bought merchandising rights to one of the series... That's luck... |

I don't know...
I agree that luck is important but maybe people have a different understanding of luck...? Maybe Luck is the ability to recognize opportunity... and if that is the case, Luck would be something we can nourish and develope within ourselves... awareness, reasoning, logic etc.? |
