Struggle Makes You Strong

I found this story to be quiet relevant to the members of this forum.

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day he saw a small opening in the cocoon. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and could go no further... so, the man decided to help the butterfly.

He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But, it had a swollen body, and small shrivelled wings. He continued to watch the butterfly, because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shrivelled wings. It was never able to fly.

What he had done in his well intentioned kindness and haste, he did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes, struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through our life without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as we could have been...... and we could never fly....... have a great day, a great life, and struggle a little... remember... God wants you to fly!

^Good post, rejoice - it's so true. Right now, I am in that "struggle" part of my life.

I heard a minister, John Hagee, talk about this very same thing this morning. Must be God speaking to me!

They never let me do things on my own...overprotective...can't wait until college..only a few more weeks. They don't understand it cripples me compared to the other kids...ugh..

I have had to sneak so many things behind them to get them done. This is why all of those penniless adopted kids get rich, no barriers except self esteem and money.

Yeah, overprotection can sometimes be that very barrier blocking you from certain successes in life. One must understand that freedom is needed in order to venture out in the world of entrepreneurship. Yes, you will make mistakes, but that is all part of the learning process. I say that if you don't make any mistakes, then clearly you're not doing anything.

So yes, freedom my friend is probably what you need. I wish you the very best of luck in your quest for financial freedom, entrepreneurship, and general success.
